Description: The School Social Worker assists in the implementation of the school’s multi-tiered systems of support. Their primary function will be to coordinate and implement the network’s tiered behavior management system to ensure every child is provided comprehensive resources to achieve success. The School Social Worker will serve as liaison between the home office and school sites to ensure site case managers are equipped with the knowledge and tools to effectively support their caseload of scholars.
Collaborates directly and consults with scholars, school leadership, and Coordination of Services Team (COST) to ensure successful implementation of the school's multi-tiered systems of support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Tactical: Manage and coordinate services for scholars with Tier 2 and Tier 3 needs:
- Support the collection of scholar academic and behavioral progress data to inform the development of detailed scholar support plans.
- Provide leadership in developing, implementing, evaluating and revising scholar support plans and services.
- Working with outside agencies to provide support to students and families.
- Developing and providing crisis intervention strategies to improve student success
- Working to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situations.
- In conjunction with the school’s FACE Liaison, provide parents an overview of Grow Public School’s case management and scholar referral process.
- Schedule and coordinate logistics and preparation of COST meetings.
- Assigns site-based case managers for scholars identified as having Tier 2 and Tier 3 needs including academic, behavioral, social-emotional, mental health, or attendance needs.
- Provide one-on-one counseling services as needed.
- Implement council/community circles practices across Grow Public Schools.
- Provide leadership and support in the implementation of group counseling across the network.
Strategic: Collaborate with the home office and school site leadership (Principal, Assistant Principal, and Dean) to develop a comprehensive PBIS model:
- Serves as a liaison for county and state PBIS trainings.
- Assists school and CMO leadership in the development and facilitation of school-based professional development.
- Assists school and CMO leadership with data collection to inform network wide practices and policies
- Assists school and CMO leadership in providing ongoing coaching and support to the school’s counselor and school psychologists.
- Participates in network-wide PBIS meetings and facilitates in the Director’s absence.
- Assists in the maintenance of network-wide dynamic school dashboards benchmarking key culture metrics to ensure a reliable early warning/at-risk system.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of research related to Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports at all three tiers: universal, secondary, and tertiary.
- Demonstrated project organizational skills, (planning, implementing, evaluation)
- Ability to work collaboratively with various groups and gain consensus related to project implementation and other problem solving.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups, (teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff).
Required Education and Experience:
- School psychologist or school counselor experience
- Proven ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of services
- Experience planning and facilitating professional development
- Experience in data-based decision making
- Experience that includes current knowledge of PBIS principles, theory and restorative techniques
- Desired education - master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or other related field
- Strongly preferred California Licensed Clinical Social Worker License (LCSW)
