Scrum Master

Are you a seasoned, certified Scrum Master with at least 5 years of experience? Are you SAFe certified? Do you enjoy educating your team in Scrum and SAFe methodologies and ensuring that the Agile best practices are followed? Do you have experience transitioning from a waterfall to an Agile environment? Do you consider yourself a coach when it comes to Agile methodology?

A Day in the Life…

As Switchfly’s Scrum Master, you are responsible for the facilitation of daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings. You help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. You promote SAFe quality practices, help embrace SAFe core values, adopt and apply SAFe principles and implement SAFe practices. Your primary responsibility is assisting the self-organizing, self-managed team to achieve its goals. You reinforce the team rules of Scrum and any other guardrails the team has agreed upon.

Responsibilities

• Ensures team(s) maintains focus on quality and continuous delivery
• Provides visibility into delivery targets, commitments, and progress. This will be accomplished with support from the Release Train Engineer.
• Be well managed – understand and coach the team on delivery controls, compliance to minimize operational, and reputational risk
• Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint demos, and sprint retrospectives
• Proactively identifies impediments and appropriately resolves using a network of peers and formal channels (including escalation if required)
• Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience with a focus on Customer Obsession

Coaching

• Integrates Agile and Lean principles into team practices and work products
• Coaches Product Owner and team on backlog refinement and prioritization
• Utilizes team feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity and works with the team to continuously improve
• Innovates with practices and frameworks through experimentation to improve the team and their delivery, driving a culture of Bold and Fearless Innovation
• Coaches the team to improve collaboration and self-organization
• Building a trustful and safe environment where learning fast is valued, and problems can be raised and addressed in an environment of Trust and Respect

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• 2+ years of experience with Jira
• 2+ years of experience as part of an agile team
• SAFe certified or SAFe experience

The Fine Print

You have a strong knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, and others. You have an understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development. You understand the importance of the value of metrics and incremental delivery. You have knowledge about tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories, etc. You are familiar with common development practices, service-oriented environments, and Agile practices. You have excellent oral and written communication skills! Bonus points for experience as a Scrum Master in a tech environment and/or SAFe certification. Experience in a SaaS environment=move to the front of the line.
