Seasonal/Summer Doctors Assistant

Great opportunity for Veterinary Students!

By working one on one with an assigned doctor, you are an extension of the triage doctor so they can focus on patient care, diagnosis and treatment. You will have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the hospital including customer service, medical data entry, nursing technical skills, and financial skills. Our hospital’s goal is to take care of pets and the people who love them by facilitating excellent patient care, communicating with owners, and minimizing wait times. This position allows you to fully connect with the patients and clients and to foster the human-animal-veterinary bond.

Schedule: Combination of 8am-6pm or 11am-10pm. Mirroring the assigned doctor's schedule.

Main duties for this role which are similar to medical transcription include:

• Medical record data entry
• Caring for your assigned doctor, clients, and patients
• Promoting patient flow to minimize client wait times and increase overall efficiency
• Communication with referral doctors / hospitals
• Patient discharges

Requirements:

• 1-3 years experience in the veterinary hospital is preferred (technician, liaison, customer service) but position is open to other human medical personnel
• Excellent typing skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and anticipate doctor needs
• Strong organizational skills
• Familiarity with veterinary software a plus especially DVMax
• Required to work at least one weekend day each week
• Minimum of 8 weeks availability to work over the summer
