Position Overview

Pequea is developing a second shift to extend shop production into the evening hours. The Second Shift Supervisor for the New Holland plant reports to the Plant Director. The Second Shift Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing a team of machine operators, welders and production assemblers tasked with completing all steps assigned on the daily production schedule. This a working position so the supervisor will also be working alongside with the team. The supervisor will assign tasks and will support the overall operation by ensuring full utilization of department resources to successfully achieve company production goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide direction for the team in line with the production schedule
  • Responsible for supervising a team of machine operators, welders and production assemblers
  • Ensure line associates follow established manufacturing processes and meet production requirements
  • Responsible for prioritizing, scheduling and delegating work assignments as required
  • Responsible for performing quality inspections of all work performed by the department
  • Ensure the team’s adherence to departmental policies and procedures along with compliance with company safety standards and work regulations
  • Collaborate with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
  • Ensure that all team members properly use company systems to track their job performance in work orders, hours worked and attendance
  • Responsible for training new and existing employees in work procedures, equipment operation and safety procedures
  • Recommend and implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • 3+ years managing teams and the production process preferably in a metal manufacturing plant
  • 3+ years hands on experience operating machines in a metal fabrication shop environment (preferably including or a combination of the following: laser cutter, break press, CNC lathes & mills and metal saws in a metal fabrication shop)
  • Working knowledge of welding
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred

Required Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, motivation, accountability, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to train, mentor and manage employees
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and abilities to analyze and troubleshoot a variety of equipment problems and assess maintenance needs
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Effectively read mechanical drawings and provide clear verbal and written direction as needed
  • Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve productivity.
  • Good computer skills (experience using manufacturing reporting software)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
