Responsibilities

Thee position of Secretary encompasses a broad spectrum of duties and responsibilities to facilitate the efficient and effective operations of the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine. Primary responsibilities involve coordinating and managing the clerical operations of the outpatient and acute therapy areas. Additional responsibilities require cross training in other clerical areas to perform necessary duties for coverage purposes. Responsibilities may include:
  • Maintains outpatient schedules. Adds new patients, coordinates and schedules appointments as directed by therapists and manager. Monitors schedule, confirms patient appointments, cancels and moves appointment as needed. Works with other therapy areas as needed for scheduling multidisciplinary outpatients.
  • Regularly reviews schedule, identifies availabilities for new evaluations and acute treatments. Provides report and/or flags opening, as appropriate, for outpatient registration desk and department manager/acute scheduler.
  • Posts procedure charge codes on a daily basis and as required for end of month rotation and processes manual adjustment for charge posting errors. Processes manual adjustment for charge posting errors.
  • Calculates, compiles and maintains department financial and statistical data including, but not limited to; daily productivity/UOS; staff/student individual productivity and hours.

Qualifications
  • Minimum one year clerical experience required
  • Hospital admitting and/or healthcare front office experience preferred. Demonstrates good capacity for organization and time management. Experience with computers and word processing preferred.
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Fire Safety card required within 90 days of hire.
