Summary of Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and overseeing the daily operations of the area to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.
- Effectively develop, manage, and maintain positive relationships with bargaining unit, maintenance, and operations to ensure efficient operations and execution of maintenance in area.
- Understand and address operational issues quickly to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Address safety concerns
- Completes routine performance reviews and trains new employees.
- Supports capital projects by providing operational support
- Effectively leads and manages day supervisors and turn supervisors
- Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization
- Able to problem solve operational and maintenance issues and find solutions
- Ensures process standards and changes complies with safety and quality standards
- Implements new process changes and standards at the BOF
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate production and safety concerns
- Responsible for meeting environmental and safety training standards and documentation
Minimum Qualifications
- Over 5 years of steel making experience or related industry
- Over 5 years of managerial experience
- High school education with experience or bachelor’s degree
- Able to manage people
- Work in face pace environmental
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 5 years in basic oxygen furnace area
- Over 5 years in managing bargaining unit
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgy or chemistry (or 10 years in steel industry)
- Successful track record working with a represented workforce in a heavy industry
- Knowledge of safety and health policies including OSHA regulations.
