JOB TITLE: Security Team Member

REPORTS TO: RiverCenter Security Lead

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time; Hourly; Independent Contractor Status

JOB SUMMARY:

The Security Team is responsible for the safety and security of the facility, patrons, employees, and property of the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. A terrific partnership with Columbus State University also ensures that our security team provides the same level responsibility during Schwob School of Music activities. Security Team Members work in various posts in the RiverCenter both in event-related and non-event security positions.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Typical work routine includes, but not limited to:

• Secures premises and personnel during events by monitoring cameras, walking property, inspecting equipment, and all access points.
• Provides the highest level of customer service available.
• Ability to deal with guest and patron questions, concerns, and issues.
• Limit loss and damage by reporting and documenting all maintenance or equipment issues.
• Enforces security and protection rules and maintains order.
• Opens and Secures doors as needed.
• Monitors and answers designated radio communications, adhering to proper radio procedures.
• Ensures the safe access to facilities for all patrons.
• Responds to emergency calls; administers basic first aid and emergency medical treatment when necessary.
• Investigates any unusual or unauthorized activities and takes appropriate action.
• Respond immediately to emergency situations, patron issues, or disturbances within the area of responsibility.
• Responsible for keeping a professional appearance and perception of the RiverCenter Security Team.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience in security, event crowd control, guest relations and customer service preferred.
• A valid driver’s license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work flexible hours when needed.
• Must be able to operate within high-stress situations and to effectively deal with difficult people or situations that suddenly arise.

• Ability to enforce regulations and rules while maintaining a non-assertive, non-threatening manner.
• Must be able to work successfully as part of a team.
• Must be able to maintain strict company, staff, and guest confidentiality.
• Must be able lift materials or equipment up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to patrol facility to include moving between multiple floors.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

SCHEDULE AND STATUS:

An Independent Contractor is not an employee of RiverCenter, Inc. The contractor and RiverCenter, Inc. agree to engage in an independent contraction relationship which will be provided. Independent Contractors shall provide services on an “as needed” basis at RiverCenter, Inc. Contractors are not granted guaranteed hours and are not provided a weekly work schedule.

COMPENSATION:

$10.50 an hour

RiverCenter, Inc. will not withhold FICA (Social Security and Medicare taxes), any other federal taxes, and/or state taxes from Contractor’s payments or make FICA, any other federal and/or state payments on Contractor’s behalf.
