Job Purpose


The Customer Gas Connections team is the company’s face to our prospective Natural Gas customers. Our team works closely with customers, civil and mechanical engineers as well as many internal stakeholders to scope and design the distribution systems to serve these customers. The Account Manager role is responsible for customer contracts, as well as process, schedule and deliver on the construction installations, infrastructure relocations and related work required to provide safe, affordable, clean, and reliable energy to their homes, business, and communities to which we serve.


This position is responsible for supporting the Gas Connection’s team goals of serving new / prospective customers with access to Natural Gas under the corresponding Terms and Conditions of Service for Boston Gas Company and Colonial Gas Company Firm Tariff and Rates portfolios. This position requires the applicant to fulfill the specific role of Project Manager and act as a liaison between the Customer and the internal process teams to fulfill the customer requests.

Key Accountabilities


  • Sales process for natural gas growth goals in Massachusetts by processing, monitoring, and balancing the status of multiple Commercial and Residential scope projects involving customer-driven work associated with natural gas main and service relocations as well as main retirements in Massachusetts. This position requires a working technical knowledge of gas distribution assets and developing customer agreements that involve substantial customer contributions. The Account Manager serves as the customer’s primary point of contact regarding their gas connections / relocation needs on a particular project.
  • Support / Assist with monitoring and progressing Gas Connection activities involving relocation of Gas Mains, Service and Fitting installations.
  • Functional activities include follow up phone calls, site visits, emails, and verbal communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advance projects via multiple computer platforms and reporting systems to completion. (Maximo, Power Plant, ArcGIS, Copperleaf C55, SAP, CRIS, Gridforce (Salesforce)and Capital Delivery Gate processing and sanctioning
  • Develop engineering and operations procedures as applicable to support the engineering and design of gas facilities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements including all safety, health and environmental standards and procedures
  • Support in the resolution of and Customer related issues concerning, Natural Gas Main, Service and meter relocation requests while updating customer regarding timeline/scheduling during the process.
  • Support / Assist with processing of commercial main and service relocations, residential main relocations, as well as Growth Main extensions, Growth and Engineering distribution system reinforcements.
  • Create / assist with non-utility billing (NUB) invoicing for Main, Service and Fitting relocation projects.
  • Incorporate process safety procedures into the project workflow as required.
  • Develop / coordinate project estimates, within accuracy requirements.
  • Identify required material and associated lead times and delivery terms.
  • Develop and gain approval of project scope, cost estimate and schedule.
  • Prepare project documentation, including DOA or corporate sanctioning paper where required.
  • Identify the necessary permits, licenses, and land rights associated with the project.
  • Provide professional and knowledgeable representation on behalf of the Company with Customers, Municipalities at meetings and as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders such as Construction, Fitting, Project Managers, Field Inspectors, Resource Planning, Operations Engineering, PE&D, Capital Delivery, Gas Connections, Legal, ROW specialist, Environmental, City & State Construction team.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • Possess an understanding of Natural Gas asset / infrastructure design and construction standards, engineering drawings, and underground construction methods and procedures.
  • Technical knowledge of natural gas system design and operations including natural gas industry codes and regulations, engineering and environmental codes and standards.
  • Project Management experience on medium to large scale capital construction projects is a plus.
  • Demonstration of a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with a diverse group of company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
  • Ability to utilize project estimating tools and undertake analysis using such tools to provide written reports identifying causes for variation and possible corrective measures.
  • Proficiency with PC software applications including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with work management applications such as Storms, Maximo, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, SAP GUI. Capital Delivery Gate processing and sanctioning experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interact strategically with both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Must possess advanced analytic, organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints.
