Job description
The Accountant, Senior supports company's financial objectives by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. The incumbent also analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization's finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Provides direction and support in month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepares and reviews various account reconciliations, high level analysis of the general ledger accounts.
- Ensures that balance sheets are accurately stated, reconciled to the general ledger, and that account details have proper back-up.
- Assists in summarizing and preparing financial statements (including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash flows).
- Analyzes financial statements and information for operating trends and results, researching variances to forecast and budget, prior month and prior year, reporting significant issues to management during monthly operating reviews.
- Effectively communicates/presents monthly operating results to assigned business leaders and ELT.
- Analyzes complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes.
- Researches ways to streamline and standardize processes to support the Accounting function.
- Involved in technical accounting matters and provides expertise to the business related to GAAP principles.
- Liaises with financial managers and matrix partners to improve financial processes.
- Implements and maintains controls and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Assists with external audits by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
- Assist in special projects and department initiatives as assigned.
- Other duties as needed or required.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
- 6 years of Accounting experience
- Technical knowledge of GAAP
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of accounting systems and ERP systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail and proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with an ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team
- Attends additional training as requested/deemed necessary
Preferred:
- CPA preferred
- Health Insurance experience preferred
- Oracle E-Business Suites knowledge preferred
