We are seeking an Senior Accountant. The primary responsibility of the position will report to and work closely with the Controller in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years in accounting position overseeing revenue of 15+ million;
• Must have 5+ years of related experience, A/P, A/R, Payroll, monthly and year end closings (Construction environment and job coding experience);
• Strong Knowledge of reconciliations and general ledgers for month end and year end closings is essential;
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, QuickBooks and Google Drive;
• A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles;
• Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations;
• Previous experience managing the payroll function for a business strongly preferred;
• Must have prior sales tax preparation for the State of California;
• Possesses a high level of integrity and protects confidential company financial information;
• Possess leadership capabilities, and a solid operational and technical accounting background;
• Ability to collaborate with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on priorities, accuracy and timeliness;
• Extremely detail oriented along with the ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately;
• Must be able to withstand the rigors of frequent interruptions and changes in duties assigned;
• Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete work without direct supervision and to work effectively under pressure required;
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff and to build the trust and respect of staff, colleagues, and external contacts;
• Excellent emotional coping skills, adequate to respond to emotional situations and emotional responses of others;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required;
• Flexible and adaptable to a growing and changing environment;

• Sensitivity to needs of culturally and linguistically diverse customer and employee population;
• Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technology and willingness to develop and adapt to the evolving technological requirements;
• High level of competency working with accounting software, advanced Excel required;
• Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends, as needed;
• Special projects, as required;
• Report Writing skills a plus; and
• Spanish Speaking a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures fiscal compliance with relevant laws, regulations, etc., through appropriate policy development, training, creation and implementation of forms, or other appropriate means;
• Lead role for Accounts payable (A/R), vendor and bill management and oversight of Accounts payable (A/P) and payroll for several companies;
• GL account reconciliations and analysis, assist with month-end close, depreciation schedules, and journal entries;
• Review daily accounts payable batches;
• Perform monthly journal entries;
• Implement and maintain compliance tracking for staff as it relates to reporting requirements and deadlines;
• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedure manuals;
• Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities;
• Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken;
• Assist with audits and examinations, as required;
• Perform month-end close functions, as necessary;
• Assist Controller and Management team in resolving questions/issues regarding payroll, A/P, coding questions, etc.;
• Facilitate account receivables, bank deposits, ACH, and wire activity to the GL;
• Monitor and maintain company credit cards;
• Process monthly employee expense reimbursements;
