Senior Accounting Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
Working for the Director of Financial Services, serve as an integral employee in the Finance Department. Job responsibilities will focus on carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly routine accounting tasks. As part of the Finance Department staff the Senior Accounting Specialist will help support the Staff Accountant, as well as the Director of Financial Services and the Chief Operations Officer/ CFO at SEMHA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Daily, review and upload issued checks into banking system
- Daily, enter and maintain the active vendors in the accounting system
- Daily, monitor bank accounts, record deposits, and enter deposits into the accounts receivable record and input into the accounting system
- Monthly, enter journal vouchers for fringe benefit expenses
- Monthly, enter journal vouchers for voided checks
- Monthly, record trial balance report in the accounts receivable record and enter journal voucher of the record into the accounting system
- Monthly, conduct pre-posting review of unposted expenses, make corrections to any incorrect entries
- Monthly, create the normal trail balance report for administrative fees and enter the journal voucher of the administrative fees
- Prepare monthly Financial Status reports for SEMHA contractual partners
- Serve as back-up to accountant for writing payable checks/ACH payments for funds administered by SEMHA
- Maintain financial records/documents per record retention policies
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required
- 5 years administrative office experience, accounting experience preferred
- Non-profit and/or public agency accounting/budget experience preferred
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Skill in math, organization, and ability to work with others and independently
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MIP Fund Accounting (preferred)
- Ability to present financial information in an informed and professional manner

SALARY: Starting at $65,000 yearly
