Job Description*
PURPOSE OF POSITION: *The Senior Advisor will strengthen Oxfam America’s (OUS) influencing advocacy and impact through recruitment, cultivation, and engagement of strategically important organizations and constituencies, allied organizations, think tanks, universities and foundations- in support of OUS’s mission. The Senior Advisor will expand Oxfam America’s alliances activities to influence attitudes and policy outcomes focused on US and global poverty through a lens of economic inequality.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Seek out key new strategic relationships and opportunities for OUS and its senior leadership including with foundations, think tanks, allied organizations, and universities.
  • Work with the Alliances and Strategic Partnerships team to recruit, nurture, and engage relationships with key allies and partner organizations to develop multi-year engagement with 10 strategic allies.
  • Represent OUS at events, conferences, and public forums.
  • Support Campaigns team) with developing allies' strategies, recruiting alliances, petition deliveries, etc.
  • Support new/other allies initiatives as needed.
  • Lead on monitoring, evaluation and learning for the department and when required, for certain division initiatives, including:
  • Process grants to allies, including reporting and evaluation.
  • Regularly reports on all allies and strategic partnership engagement activity, using evaluation and tracking systems.
  • Maintains comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date files, records, and systems.

  • Up to 35% overnight travel within the US and occasional international travel; some evening work may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in facilitation, organizing, and relationship management. Demonstrated program and team management experience. Experience recruiting and managing relationships with high level influential individuals and working with allied organizations and coalitions.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) for programs
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Public speaking experience and experience conducting trainings.
  • Knowledge of the field of international development and human rights.
  • Knowledge of US government policymaking processes.
  • Experience working with allied organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applications in Microsoft Office.

DC Union / Exempt / Band G
Salary Range for Band G roles - $71,130 - $106,690
