Job Description:

The Senior Associate Quality Engineer shall assure reliable product is being delivered to our customers on time, meeting or exceeding expectations and specifications. The candidate should be an intermediate professional with practical knowledge of of Quality Assurance practices and principles. Works under moderate supervision to set objectives for own job area. Interface and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures. Ability to make sound, investigative and resourceful decisions based on facts. Work with teams to identify and implement continuous improvements to processes and products.

Essential Functions:

  • Be collaborative with manufacturing, engineering, customer, and vendor representatives to ensure requirements are met
  • Conduct contract reviews and flow down of requirements to the supply chain and functional groups
  • Provide technical support and training to Inspection department
  • Perform trend analysis of reported nonconformities. Investigates problems, develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies
  • Manage Corrective Action Requests (CAR’s)
  • Support Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Support the material review board (MRB) and provide dispositions accordingly for nonconforming product, including communicating with customers for approvals as required.
  • Review and approve engineering specifications such as manufacturing work instructions, and ensure adequacy, quality, and compliance to specification and contractual requirements. Make recommendations for updates as needed.
  • Perform internal process audits, compile reports and recommend any needed remedial actions. Similarly support external/customer audits.
  • Review and approve first article inspection (FAI) reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Support Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) charter and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform final product sell-off

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, or Quality Sciences.
  • Prior Aerospace and Defense Industry experience is recommended
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and a good working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action techniques including but not limited to: DMAIC, Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagram, 5 Why’s, 8D, etc.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Lean/Six Sigma training, Green Belt
  • AS 9100/ISO 9001 quality system experience.
  • GEMBA experience
  • Familiarity with mechanical assembly, soldering, machining, and finishing processes.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), SPC, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, RCCA problem solving methodologies, Lean/Six Sigma and exposure to a “Zero Defects” business operating environment.
  • Working knowledge of industry specs/standards as it relates to materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., ASTM, ASE, MIL specs, etc.).
