Seneca Holdings is seeking a Senior Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. The Senior Benefits Specialist will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics related to employee benefits and leave, applying this data to make recommendations related to employee benefits and leave entitlements. The position reports to the Director of Human Resources Operations. The ideal candidate would be located in the Washington, DC Metro area and have the ability to be in-person in our Chantilly, VA office two to three times a month for team or company meetings.

Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for ensuring benefits programs comply with applicable plan document and regulations, performing analytics on usage, cost and effectiveness of benefits, as well as identifying improvement opportunities associated with the administration and design of the Programs
  • Monitor eligibility, limitations and restrictions of plan participants and ensure compliance with plan provisions and government requirements.
  • Serves as supporting contact and functions as a supporting liaison between employees, vendors, to investigate discrepancies and provide information for timely problem resolution of escalated inquiries while maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Work with internal and external partners to test and update systems for accuracy of data exchanges; conduct audits and implement solutions as needed to correct deficiencies; understand and identify benefits technology requirements to support system testing, data interfaces, data audits, development of test plans and execution.
  • Conduct routine analysis of employee benefits eligibility files to ensure accuracy; work with finance and payroll to address discrepancies.
  • Reconciles benefit invoices
  • Lead planning activities associated with benefit orientation, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions; collaborate with vendors to ensure resources tools are updated and accessible to employees
  • Prepares reports of data results, presenting and explaining findings to senior leadership.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve existing metrics including changes to benefits and leave offerings.
  • Research or coordinates with appropriate benefits administration staff to research alternatives for health, wellness, and retirement plans and benefit providers.
  • Facilitates implementation of new leave programs, benefits plans, and other related initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required.
  • At least three years of experience in employee benefits
  • Experience with ADP WorkforceNow and Benefit File Feeds
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and benefits administration.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS, payroll, and similar human resource management software and practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
