We’re hiring a Senior Business Process Specialist (BPS) to research and analyze complex business issues surrounding the staff, systems and cross-departmental stakeholders within NSWG8.

Role and Responsibilities:

The candidate will work closely with the NSWG8 Knowledge Management (KM) Officer (KMO) to focus on Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) events to support the entire NSWG8 claimancy. They will develop strategies and recommendations surrounding improving processes, efficiency and practices of the command's business systems. The process improvement evolutions will support both staff and operational workflows and should lead to decreased cost/processing time, or improved performance/quality.


Specifically:


  • Assist the NSWG8 KMO by analyzing current command processes using industry-accepted

CPI methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or Scrum.

  • Serve as primary KM Department point of contact to conduct project requirements

gathering and stakeholder analysis to capture all steps of emerging business processes and

all department equities are met.

  • Analyze user and business needs and processes, document requirements and user stories,

processes, and workflows, and translate requirements into system requirement

specifications. Candidate must have a strong understanding of NSW and SOF application

and business processes through researching, analyzing, and understanding system and

business needs.

  • Analyze and provide guidance on how requested changes could affect the system and

business processes. Interact with business users and technical teams to solve business and

technical problems. Provide input and feedback during all phases of the development life

cycle. Facilitate meetings with business users, technical team members, and senior

management. Prepare and conduct presentations, demos, reports, and training to

management, users, and technical staff. Assist application users with questions and works

with users and development team to troubleshoot issues.

  • Interpret data and results, assess and ensure data accuracy and integrity, and provide subject

matter expertise regarding the data subject.

  • Develop and maintain process maps of NSWG8 claimancy business processes utilizing

Microsoft Visio (or similar product) to ensure consistency of daily business process

operations.

  • Serve as a member of Operational Planning Teams (OPTs) or Scrum teams, as directed by

the KMO.

  • Create user guides, or other related training products in support of process improvement evolutions, as required.
  • Develop distance learning strategies, techniques and best practices.
  • Provide training to NSWG8 claimancy members on collaborative tools once developed

and deployed.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise:

  • Each BPS shall be, at a minimum, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB) trained, a Certified

SCRUM Master, or be a graduate of a recognized SOCOM Joint Special Operations

University (JSOU) course such as Creative Problem Solving or Design Thinking.

  • Must possess at least five (5) years’ experience leading process improvement evolutions or

as a team member.

  • Must be an excellent communicator with ability to converse with and brief senior

government personnel, up to and including the Commanding Officer and GS-15 levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

or eight years equivalent NSW work experience directly within the business process

functional area.

  • Must possess at least five years of experience performing NSW business and systems

analysis supporting application development initiatives and developing requirements and

design documentation for enterprise applications.

  • Must possess at least five (5) years’ experience in program management, strategic thinking,

stakeholder engagement, problem solving, requirements collection, technical

documentation, application testing and operations, and user support and training.

  • Possess a thorough comprehension of NSW community structure, business processes,

readiness factors, and training and reporting requirements.

  • Be proficient with DON and NSW Enterprise systems to include NSIPS, NTRMS, Defense

Ready, TMT and NSW applications and data.

  • Possess working level knowledge of service-level KM policies, governance and digital

transformation initiatives. Experience with these issues within SOF preferred.

  • Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Travel:

· Twice yearly to San Diego and Hawaii
