Duties & Functions:
- Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations
- Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP’s, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales team
- Be familiar with all Mondrian sales policies
- Adhere to all hotel and catering department policies and procedures.
- Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
- Respond to catering inquiries in a timely manner. All inquiries are to be returned on the day they are received.
- Document daily activities and calls, thus producing an accurate weekly sales activity report.
- Verification and timely completion of the following: Contract & Credit application/Billing, Contact information, and Banquet Event Orders.
- Work with clients on menu planning, budgeting, tasting, décor, and all other related issues
- Assist with any additional special requests from guests, including transportation, off-property events, recreational facilities, rental equipment, and any other requirements.
- Work closely with Catering Manager and staff to ensure that all details are followed through.
- Continuously and constantly communicate with all hotel departments regarding catering functions (coat check attendants, valet parking, engineering requests, etc)
- Place phone calls of introduction if client has been turned over from sales department or another catering manager.
- Operate the Sales Department within established sales expense budget
- Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program
- Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market
- Contact existing accounts based on the tracing frequencies of the Account Coverage Program
- Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, lunches, tours and site inspections
- Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments
- Conduct a professional, thorough site inspect of the property
- Be present and punctual for Catering Sales Office Hours.
- Place follow up call to client upon completion of the event, send thank you note and comment card.
Specific Job Knowledge & Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2-3 years of hotel sales experience preferred
- Ability to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and have a high level attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must be able to use computer and have familiarity with Office Tools.
- Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
- Ability to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.
Pay Range: $80,000-$90,000 per year
