Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm | Salary: $180,000 a year

Well known specialized commercial insurance firm has an immediate need for a Senior Claims Manager. Position will be responsible for optimizing their claim operation by handling reinsurance claims through policy creation to completion. Will serve as subject matter expert to customers by serving as main point of contact for reinsurance claims offering your expertise and advice. Reporting directly to ethe Vice President of Claims, the company offers a hybrid work environment and a strong collaborative team of experts in the field.

Senior Claims Manager’s Responsibilities

• Conduct claim operations to maximize cooperation, service and financial equity between company and their customer
• Maintain a work knowledge of reinsurance programs and efficiently handle claims against those programs to ensure customers receive full benefits owed
• Manage claim files by recognizing exposures and ensuring reserving is adequate and timely
• Issue responsible and timely disbursement of funds
• Settling claims within settlement authority (up to $1M)
• Consult with and request approval of appropriate superiors on disbursements in excess of assigned authority
• Report necessary information to outside reinsurers
• Travel and provide education, claim review, evaluations, consultation and/or assistance to each assigned customer
• Provide insurances and assistance to customers in applying their reinsurance program and reinsurance claims procedures
• Present comfortably, appropriately, and positively with senior managers and executives
• Speak, participate in, or facilitate seminars and committees involving customers and the insurance industry to foster mutual education

Senior Claims Manager’s Qualifications

• 10 years of experience in commercial claims handling
• Proven knowledge of claim procedures, policies, terminology, etc including coverage analysis background, knowledge of claims practices and insurance law
• Experience and knowledge of claims involving extra contractual obligations, excess policy limits, bad faith and pollution
• Strong knowledge of the P&C insurance marketplace
• Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation| CPCU preferred or at least on the track to earn this credential
• ARe, ARM or other industry risk designations (preferred)
• Ability and flexibility to travel 24-30% of the time
