SENIOR DEVOPS DATA ENGINEER, MIT Open Learning (OL)-Engineering Department, to join a team with big ambitions to redefine the use of technology in teaching and learning at MIT and beyond. Will participate in the design, architecture, implementation, and delivery of the data platform that powers analytics and product features across MIT Open Learning. Key responsibilities include implementing and maintaining automated data integration workflows to power MIT Open Learning’s centralized data lakehouse; designing, developing, and deploying data orchestration pipelines using the Dagster framework; supporting developers and analytics engineers in their work with the dbt framework; and ensuring proper data quality and governance controls are created and maintained to ensure the reliability of data assets.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least seven years of relevant experience; experience building and maintaining production data workflows with an orchestration tool like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect; expertise in SQL and at least one programming language (OL uses Python); familiarity with data warehouse modeling principles such as Star/Snowflake schemas, Data Vault, etc.; and familiarity with the technical and process controls required for proper data governance. PREFERRED: Experience implementing continuous integration for data-oriented business logic; Direct experience with components of OL’s stack, including dbt, Dagster, Trino, and Airbyte; and excellent communication skills.
