Position Summary
The Senior Director of Behavioral Health System and Integrated Services focuses on two key areas: (1) the implementation of services and programming integrated across the health system and (2) the facilitation and coordination of the Behavioral Health Service Line.

The incumbent leads a team of Directors in the implementation of key programming and services across the MaineHealth system which support the integrated clinicians and providers in Primary Care, Crisis Services in the Emergency Departments and Peer Services throughout the MaineHealth footprint. In addition, the Senior Director has a project team and serves as the coordinator and liaison for the Behavioral Health Service Line. This includes coordination and facilitation of the Behavioral Health Service Line meetings and projects and developing and maintaining positive working relationships with leadership at each Local Health System and the three Regions across the MaineHealth system.

The Senior Director will ensure alignment with the Maine Behavioral Healthcare and MaineHealth strategic plans, participate in the development of the strategic plan and launching new strategic initiatives. This position works to achieve excellence in patient care, compliance with regulatory agencies, fiscal responsibility and human resource management. The Senior Director acts from a system-wide perspective and insures that the division operates within the context of the organization’s mission, vision and values.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
1. Education: Master’s degree in social work or an equivalent graduate professional degree.
2. License/Certifications: Independently fully licensed to practice in Maine.
3. Experience: 5+ years of progressive mental health program management and broad based clinical experience required.
4. Provide supervision to staff.
5. Professional level of knowledge of mental health systems, human resources, and organizational management generally acquired through master level education or extensive management experience.
6. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills required to work with staff, hospital personnel, community agencies, other providers and patients and their families.
7. High level of analytical ability to identify system issues and resolve complex problems.
8. Excellent organizational skills, ability to make independent decisions and be able to develop and institute new programs and processes.
9. Substantial judgment required for developing strategies to enhance the functioning of the system and resources.
10. Demonstrated capacity to provide effective management of complex program funding and expense structures.
11. Ability to assimilate and analyze significant complex data and statistics and to make relevant and realistic recommendations.
12. Ability to train, coach, counsel, and delegate to staff, appraise performance, and develop staff for future leadership opportunities.
13. Strong leadership skills including, change management, flexibility and organizational skills.
