Reading/Language Arts Senior Editorial Director
As Senior Editorial Director for K–5 Reading, you will be closely involved in conceptualizing and developing new teacher-led products for the Reading market.

The impact you'll have:
Inspire, supervise and mentor an Editorial staff. Convey to staff a sense of vision and direction by establishing clear, realistic goals and action plans;
Grow and develop the Editorial team’s instructional expertise across all domains of ELA instruction.
Champion and maintain instructional coherence and editorial consistency across the K–5 product line.
Lead efforts to continually improve development processes and ways of working.
Collaborate closely with Product Management to translate the product vision into executable prototypes.
Drive the development process of a K–5 reading program,
Leading the search for high quality authentic texts;
Creating and managing project schedules and budgets;
Developing resource plans and guidelines;
Recruiting and managing freelance editorial support and/or outside development houses;
Working collaboratively with Design, Production, and Access & Equity teams throughout the publishing process;
Anticipating and solving problems as they arise, including adjusting workflows and resource allocations, as well as creating work-arounds. Establish work processes aimed at continuous improvement in reduction of cycle time and quantity of output.
Keep abreast of educational trends and competitive products by attending workshops and conferences, reading professional literature, and networking with educators and sales reps.
Who we're looking for:
7+ years managing the development of K–5 reading/language arts products—both student and teacher facing components;
Experience developing large scale Reading products at K–5;
Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to drive toward completion;
Experience planning, scheduling, budgeting, and supervising staff and/or vendors;
A very hands-on approach; a willingness to contribute in detail to execution in order to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and editorial excellence;
Excellent writing and editing skills;
Experience creating clear and detailed documentation that explains key processes and approaches;
Familiarity with national and state standards and assessments, including quantitative and qualitative text measures;
Ability to proactively and creatively solve problems related to product development;
Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to drive toward completion;
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in education or teaching experience a plus.
Location: This position can be based in our headquarters office in North Billerica, MA (a suburb of Boston); in our satellite office in Brooklyn NY or remote.
