Reporting directly to the VP/Chief Information Officer, the Sr. Director of Applications Development will drive software development for the corporate business applications. As the Director of Applications Development, you will provide management and technical leadership in the design, development, quality assurance, and production systems of our flagship applications. As part of this role, you will be required to integrate and develop a scalable and agile system that aligns with company technology directions and policies to assure rapid and cost-effective application development.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide overall strategy and technology direction for the development of applications and Cloud infrastructure supporting the Company’s solutions.
• Strategic planning for all application development efforts to include coordinating development efforts with planned upgrades by vendors for purchased applications.
• Part of Change Control Board reviewing different project/change requests, allocating resources, determining timeline, and cost.
• Identify opportunities and provide technology direction for Digital Transformation.
• Manage a development team supporting varying flagship applications, including but not limited to JD Edwards, Boomi iPaaS interfaces to third party on premise, web applications, cloud applications, mobile applications, barcoding systems, configurators, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, RPA etc.
• Plan and manage developers’ cross training in order to improve systems reliability and overall SLA.
• Identify opportunities to leverage offshore resources or other third-party developers in order to meet business needs.
• Develop, distribute, support, enforce, and integrate best practices and technology standards across the organization to ensure best-in-class programs, partnerships, policies, practices and systems while delivering high quality and repeatable results.
• Assist in the support and alignment of the Company’s IT product roadmap as part of a shared product portfolio across eight different Business Units.
• Lead and enhance our agile methodology for the design, development, test and release of our products and features.
• Establish departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures keeping abreast of new technologies and issues in the on premise model, software-as-a-service (SAAS) industry, web technologies, platforms, standards and methodologies.
• Define and communicate corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and designing new applications.
• Recruit, manage and continuously develop a collaborative team of technology professionals viewed as a model for a high quality/high performance manufacturing enterprise.
• Participate in the strategic business and product planning process by being an active spokesperson both internally and externally by communicating and promoting the Company’s technology vision and solutions.
• Evaluate new technologies and solutions in the market and be responsible for keeping abreast of trends that may impact the Company.
• Ensure the knowledge sharing of best practices across Business Units, and develop and monitor technical standards to ensure adherence to them for all corporate applications.
• Establish and manage the operating budget to maximize utilization of resources and delivery of products and solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related engineering field.
• 10-12+ years of applications development management experience working on all phases of the software development lifecycle including formulating business requirements, web application development.
• 10+ years of experience in supporting JD Edwards application development including upgrades, business services, configurations, interfaces, etc. Version 9.x experience preferred.
• Boomi iPaaS experience/knowledge preferred
• Extensive knowledge of data warehouse/data lake technologies
• Previous senior SW leadership roles in application development supporting manufacturing companies (automotive manufacturing preferred).
• Ability to recruit the best and brightest developers, and provide them with a vision and working environment to develop world-class applications while instituting compelling performance measurements that continually drive transparency and improved performance.
• Excellent communication skills, strong team player, and the ability to work with multiple Business Unit IT leaders in a fast-paced, high-productivity environment.
• Experience in building and maintaining applications that are mission critical.
