In this role you will lead the Technical Program Management (TPM) organization in delivering Zonar products, services, and platforms to customers in North America and Europe.
The TPM organization supports almost two dozen teams and programs for Zonar, delivering solutions that include making drivers compliant to safety rules, fleets more efficient, and vehicles. The Zonar products are used in the real world every day and contribute to the efficiency and safety of our customers from school transportation teams to freight companies. We build and deliver hardware, mobile applications, services and web experiences as well as partnering with vendors.
At Zonar, the TPM director is a member of the Senior Technical Leadership team which is responsible for all Zonar product delivery. In this position, your primary role is to manage a team who is responsible for managing and driving project schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, finding options for issue resolution, and clearly communicating goals and status to stakeholders with a focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results. As an experienced manager and technical program manager you will also have solid technical acumen and model great communication, prioritization, and ownership.
Zonar is based in Seattle and has most leadership based in the area, but the team is distributed across the USA. Ability to travel is required, but infrequent if based in Seattle area. If this is for you, apply today!
- Lead more than a dozen TPM and TPM managers in an Agile development environment to deliver products and programs
- Collaborate with Program Management, Leadership, UX, Software, Customer Care, Sales and Marketing in ensuring that the team is delivering a great experience and successful launches across the board
- Use your experience in order to mentor and improve the team, working on organizational structure and leadership
- Work on instrumenting and evaluating data to let us improve every day in how we work
- Become an integral part of the leadership team to define product strategy and roadmap
- Communicate clearly and concisely, by written and spoken word, to developers, managers, and leaders within the organization
- Drive software development lifecycle methodologies that ensure our teams build scalable, resilient, reliable software and hardware solutions while improving efficiency, effectiveness, and throughput
- Focus on decisive, fast-moving solutions, quick and constructive resolutions to conflicts, and a “no barriers” mentality.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in software development & technical program management
- Experience managing managers as direct reports and influencing teams in a matrixed environment
- Passionate orientation and attention to customer satisfaction, and a curiosity about how things work.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire multiple teams to deliver a diverse set of applications and services
- A history of finding solutions and making prioritization and planning choices on an organizational scale
- Expertise and proven success and trials with Scrum and/or Kanban, experience with SAFe beneficial
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- For additional credit:
- 2+ years of hands-on software development experience with relevant technologies such as Java, C/C++, PHP, Obj-C, Swift, and/or Python
- Experience delivering applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, preferably with a micro-services architecture
- Familiarity with PaaS/CaaS frameworks, e.g., Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, e.g., PostgreSQL, Cassandra
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Scrum Master and PMP or equivalent Program/Project Management Certification
