POSITION TITLE: Senior HR Generalist

POSITION SUMMARY: The HR Generalist handles the daily HR activities and employee relations. This position will process a variety of HR duties at the Arvin facility, corporate office and farm locations. The HR Generalist will be the primary communication conduit between management, employees, staffing agency, and vendors.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Report to: Sr. HR Manager
  • FLSA Status: Exempt
  • Employment Category: Full-Time Regular
  • Pay Range: $64,480 – $80,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Maintain employee personnel and other related HR files (i.e. new hire forms, benefit enrollment, time off requests, etc.) in an orderly and timely manner to ensure all necessary documentation is included and released only to authorized individuals

  • Support onboarding paperwork processing of new hires and exiting employees, including but not limited to payroll change notices, benefit paperwork, I-9’s, W-4’s, etc.
  • Uphold company policy and government regulations in connection with HR related issues
  • Process employment verifications, perform reference checks, and initiate pre-employment screenings
  • Respond to employees’ inquiries and concerns about HR related issues
  • Partners with Sr. HR Manager to make recommendations to management for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for processing of EDD claims and hearings
  • Facilitate annual open enrollment activities and related paperwork for employees
  • Build rapport with staffing vendors, maintain open dialogue with staffing resources, and complete vendor audits
  • Enter employee hire date, time off request forms, or other information as needed in HRIS system
  • Serve as a resource for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and company support
  • Support employees in the use of HRIS Self-Service Portal
  • Export Kronos time entries for payroll processing through HRIS and create Kronos reports as needed
  • Maintain HR annual compliance posters in all facilities and farm locations
  • Facilitates leave of absences and employee time off requests
  • Schedule interviews with appropriate hiring managers and send interview confirmations
  • Support executive staff with daily business and company-wide announcements as needed
  • Implement employee morale building activities including but not limited to wellness projects, employee recognition projects, and anniversaries
  • Manage the organization brand and reputation
  • Develop branding initiatives, internal communication and external media relations while working closely with partners
  • Develop creative timelines for all marketing communication needs, and timetable and track development of all creative projects
  • Availability for recruiting and marketing at Career Fairs and Agriculture Expos
  • Implement community involvement and strategic networking
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking, proactive planning in recruiting, branding, and outreach

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to create and implement SOP for human resources department
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn HR software applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Five years in Human Resources with understanding of full employment cycle

PREFERED QUALIFICATION

  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desired
