Job Description:
Airspace's R&D team is looking for naturally curious and adept iOS developers who can pick up a story, ask the right questions to get it done, and deliver a feature or fix that is well tested and maintainable. Applicants should be results oriented, keen on producing high quality software, and good collaborators. Although this role is specific to iOS development Airspace devs are expected to have the skills necessary to make meaningful contributions to any part of our platform, including our Flutter app.
Responsibilities:

  • Design & Architecture: Partners with stakeholders to understand customer and/or business requirements. Translates requirements into effective design documents to address clearly defined business or technical problems. Provides expertise to make trade-off decisions between short-term results and long-term goals. Works closely with dependencies to define server-mobile API contracts.
  • Efficiency & Being a Force Multiplier: Creates and promotes efficiency and speed within the team by leveraging and improving existing solutions, developing extensible solutions, and reconciling gaps and redundancy. Identifies opportunities and advocates for better performance and efficiency of the team's software and systems.
  • Operational Execution: Manages and executes ambiguous technical projects and solutions with drive and appropriate sense of urgency to deliver technical and business impact within the team. Plans, organizes, and manages tasks, resources, and timelines within the team to accomplish work accurately and on time. Defines and diagnoses ambiguous problems and determines an appropriate solution, recommendation, or decision while logically evaluating alternatives and factors (e.g., resources, costs, trade-offs). Anticipates roadblocks and develops strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Work with our QA team to ensure acceptance criteria is met and regressions are avoided.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Maintain code quality through test automation and peer code reviews.
  • Collaborate with a team of smart, friendly engineers to develop solutions unique to logistics.

Requirements:

  • A friendly, humble personality that understands priorities and is hungry to learn.
  • Bachelors or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, which includes at least 2-years total in iOS/Swift development
  • A development style that puts a high value on testing and attention to details.
  • Understanding of common and modern mobile architecture patterns, their benefits, use cases and drawbacks.
  • Experience with user-centric implementation of complex reusable UI layouts using UIKit, XIBs and Storyboards.
  • Experience designing APIs (SDKs) and integration with backend REST services.
  • Experience working with CoreLocation, Realm, URLSession, UserNotifications, AVFoundation, FirebaseML, XCTest and DataDog frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Firebase Messaging and iOS Push Notifications.
  • Experience working with multithreaded code.
  • Strong understanding of Xcode build system, organization and configuration.
  • Experience with UI automation using XCTest.
