Code engineering teams are building the next generation of barcode readers allowing our clients to offer superior
performance to their customers. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Code, you will participate in and oversee
projects critical to the evolution of Code products. You will meet with project and product managers as part of a
cross-functional team and help plan and execute the product vision and user experience. You will need expert
experience with SolidWorks and prior experience working with plastic mold manufactures. Experience transitioning
industrial design concepts to SolidWorks is required. Code engineering is an Agile workplace, utilizing Jira to track
and plan current and future work. Code is a wholly owned subsidiary of Brady Corporation. Brady has a global
presence in industrial printing and is headquartered in Milwaukee WI. This position will be located in our Salt Lake
City Utah office.
Duties/Skills:
 Proficient in the development, production, and maintenance of all mechanical components and assemblies
through the product life cycle
 Experience taking projects from ID concept, through engineering, to product release
 Work with Code manufacturing to identify issues on existing products requiring revisions while also driving
new product development
 Possess a broad understanding of mechanical engineering principals related to plastic injection molding
 Able to complete and review tolerance stacks for multi-component mechanisms
 Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
 Experience designing products to meet Mil Spec drop and IP65/67 standards
 Proficient using SolidWorks and EPDM. SolidWorks Plastics (preferred)
 Proficient in generating, compiling, and controlling product documentation, drawings, ECO's and technical
data sheets
 Experience in various manufacturing processes, including injection molding, die casting, machining, and
stamping
 Supports the product team in the development of a Mechanical Engineering timeline that includes cost,
schedule, and quality
 Proficient in designing for manufacturability (DFM)
 Ability to think "out of the box" in all facets of the product development process
 Works cross-functionally with internal teams and other core disciplines (EE, Firmware,
 Software, Marketing)
 Experience in an Agile/Scrum workflow (preferred)
 Experience designing products in Healthcare/Industrial/Automotive/Commercial Environments (preferred)
 Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
 Experience with JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint (preferred)
 Desire to contribute, make a difference, be self-motivated and have a desire to continuously improve
Education:
 Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required, (Masters preferred)
 7-10+ Years' ME Experience, (5+ in Plastics Industry specifically Injection Molding)
