We are offering a $6k bonus for full time Medical Technologist positions!

The Senior Medical Technologist performs testing, reporting of results, and related duties necessary for the analysis of blood, body fluid, and other samples in the Blood Bank, Chemistry Laboratory, Hematology Laboratory, or Microbiology Laboratory. The Senior Medical Technologist acts as a leader in a technical area of the Laboratory, including being a resource for others in the department. The Senior Medical Technologist will also performs troubleshooting and resolves quality issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Participates extensively in support of quality control program, instrument preventative maintenance and troubleshooting, inventory management and other departmental functions.
• Performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results on a variety of biological specimens using manual and automated techniques.
• Monitors quality control systems to ensure accuracy.
• Assists with competency assessment of technical staff, if educational qualifications allow.
• Accurately identifies patients and specimens per policy.
• Ensures specimen appropriateness and maintains specimen integrity throughout collection, testing and storage.
• Efficiently and accurately reports results including timely communication of stat and critical results, with appropriate documentation in the LIS call queue.
• Assists with inventory management by documenting open dates on supplies as required by policy, and promptly notifying supervisor of low inventory.
• Maintains an organized work environment to enable another to take over job duties, including stocking of bench supplies prior to shift end.
• Demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System.
• Prepares and maintains analytical equipment in proper operating condition in accordance with specific policy and procedure, and follows Lab guidelines when test systems are not within acceptable limits.
• Participates in teaching students and training of new staff members.
• Assists Technical Section Supervisor in development, implementation, and evaluation of new techniques, methods or procedures.
• Assumes technical supervisory role in absence of Technical Section Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Associate's Degree Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a 32-40 hour Medical Technologist position
• Must meet minimum qualifications for high complexity testing, MT (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
• Molecular experience and Maldi experience, preferred
