Position: IT Network Engineer

SUMMARY

Network Engineer is an advanced level technical position designed to support the business development and operations side of IT Department that pertain to networking infrastructure. This position can be Remote, however must be local to LA area in case there is a need to be onsite.

PURPOSE

This position is designed to offer technical oversight of networking infrastructure and platforms to help with design, implementation, and enhancements to LAN and WAN environments.

MAIN JOB TASKS

• Design, plan, and implement required network solutions
• Identify appropriate network service providers
• Ensure the network is responsive to user demands
• Scale network services to serve growing business needs or upon specific requests
• Troubleshooting networking issues which arise
• Collaborating with process owners and/or stakeholders to determine growth plans and/or problem areas
• KPI, reporting, and data analysis of network health and performance on a routine basis including logging/monitoring/alerting
• Implementing effective security strategies within LAN/WAN environments ensuring compliance with relevant HIPAA regulations and guidelines
• Identify automation opportunities including self-healing
• Mentoring and educating others on basic monitoring and troubleshooting tasks
• Review and provide recommendations with Network Operations Documentation, i.e. network diagrams
• Review and provide recommendations for network incidence response plans
• Be cognizant of the company’s financial spending on network solutions; recommend cost effective conscious solutions
• Review and confirm network security workflows and identify false positives, false negatives
• Willing and able to act as the after-hours network resource for the organization
• Execute vulnerability and penetration testing for the network on schedule and provide technical analysis of results

DESIRED QUALITICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS) OR more than 3 years of Network Administration/Support experience in medium to large sized firms
• Certifications and organizational specific experience may be considered to enhance or replace educational requirements.
• Strive to achieve relevant network engineering certifications
• Advanced technical speaking and writing abilities in the field of Computer Science
• Up to date knowledge of HIPAA IT compliance rules
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Valid permit of employment in the US can be used in place of citizenship or permanent residence
• Healthcare Industry experience is desirable but not a requirement
• This resource typically has more than 4 years of professional experience in large enterprises with more than a minimum of 500 users

• Ability to understand new features and learn how they work. Prepare documentation in crisp, easy-to-follow language
• Maintain real-time communication of projects and maintenance tasks with peers and management
• Willing to assist with scheduled and unscheduled tasks round the clock when an emergency is declared
