PHOTO ASSISTANT POSITION

POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a bright, energetic and hardworking individual to join our photo studio team. Photography experience is a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate is a people person, and posses an interest in photography, retouching, or all things visual. A creative customer service background preferred.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY

We are a boutique portrait photo studio located on the North Shore. Our clientele ranges from families, to businesses, to large corporations. We are a small team that works closely with our clients. We have been in business for more more than twenty years.

PRIMARY PHOTO ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES

· Set up and prep gear for photo shoot (in studio and on location)

· Assist during photo sessions, either by holding diffusion panels or fils

· Learn studio and natural lighting to run studio lighting during photo shoot, including Nikon WT-6 wireless equipment and software, communications between Westcott and Bowens studio lighting equipment, Nikon, Mac and Pocket Wizards

· Use fills, reflectors and diffusion materials, as these are basics for assisting on photo shoots. California Sun-Swatter (an outside lighting tool that we use on almost all location shoots)

· Clean the studio daily, vacuum, mop floors, etc

· Answer client phone and email inquires

· Work with clients during ordering sessions, helping them make the best decisions for their images

· Crop images and maintain file size specifications, sending to the lab and clients

· Maintain proper file naming, metadata and image protocol for upload and archiving

· Track catalog photos from concept to completion· The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team with a strong work ethic

· Calibrate Apple displays weekly and maintain consist color balance

· Effectively communicate with clients during proofing process to final complete the client order

· Use client's creative direction to anticipate retouching requests and elevate imagery without over retouching

· A mode of transportation is highly advised as there are occasions where we may meet directly on-site.

· Flexibility to changing priorities and able to work on several projects simultaneously

· Hard working and reliable

· Adaptability to new tools and process

· Willing to wear many hats, from working files, to assisting on shoots, to helping clients

· Able to physically carry heavy equipment to shoots and on location

· Customer service experience is preferred

· Photoshop experienced is a plus

· Must be willing to work several Saturday's per month during peak season

LOCATION
This is NOT A REMOTE JOB. This job takes place at our Glenview, Illinois studio.

NOTES
If you currently own or are looking to start a portrait photography business, this is not the opportunity for you. The hired applicant will be required to sign a general non-compete agreement.

COMPENSATION

Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
