Job Description

The position resides on our Programs team and reports to the Senior Director of CA Workforce Programs. This Senior Program Coordinator role is responsible for program and project management of school meal program assessments, technical assistance and K-12 district partnerships in California under the Healthy School Food Pathway (HSFP) program, in collaboration with the CA Workforce Programs team and School Food Operations team (specifically Research & Assessment and Operations Specialists in California).

HSFP is a work-based learning experience that aims to prepare individuals for job opportunities in healthy, scratch-cook school food programs. The HSFP program focuses on supporting workforce readiness and professional growth for new, incumbent, and displaced school food operators. HSFP offers professionals the resources, hands-on training, and network to become confident leaders that have in-depth knowledge and experience in creating and running successful scratch-cook meal programs.

HSFP also provides technical assistance to California K-12 districts to support them in increasing their scratch cooking to better prepare them to serve as a training site for program participants. This includes an emphasis on CAF’s 5 key areas: food, finance, facilities, human resources and marketing. The Senior Coordinator role will focus on this work with current and new K-12 district partners but may also include work with other key stakeholders, including but not limited to agriculture, labor, workforce development, state government, community college systems, unions, and program evaluators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the assessment and technical assistance process with all K-12 district partners in the HSFP program.

  • Work with CAF’s School Food Operations team to ensure key targets and deliverables are met, including the tracking of each districts’ progress towards increasing their level of scratch cooking and local procurement.

  • Manage the onboarding process of new K-12 districts into the program once they are ready to host Pre-Apprenticeship, Apprenticeship and Fellowship program participants.

  • Manage K-12 district relationships while ensuring they provide sufficient onsite support and guidance to program participants.

  • Ensure CAF initiatives are managed at the highest level and represent the organization’s commitment to quality, result-driven programming.

Basic Responsibilities
  • Lead implementation of key program components including meeting coordination, program material creation, process documentation, deliverable timelines and benchmarks, etc.

  • Coordinate with the School Food Operations team to ensure timely completion of onsite district visits, strategic planning and technical assistance as needed with each K-12 district

  • Track and manage each K-12 district’s status in the program and their level of scratch cooking, including ongoing improvements

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CA K-12 district host sites and future host sites

  • Conduct introductory meetings with interested K-12 districts

  • Track and manage K-12 district program agreements

  • Create key reporting documents for program partners, funders and policy purposes

  • Contribute to presentation of program information and collaborations with Marketing team, including presentation of HSFP program details at key school food meetings and conferences to recruit new K-12 district partners

  • Collaborate with Technology team to integrate district progress reporting

  • Maintain understanding and awareness of federal and state policies as they relate to program operations

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements
  • Regular access to a car for local travel and ability to travel further distances via plane

  • Strong project management skills, including time management and clear communication

  • Ability to balance and prioritize competing timelines/deliverables

  • Experience in program planning, implementation and management preferred

  • Knowledge of and/or work experience in school food preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite platforms

  • Ability to work virtually

Compensation

Compensation ranges between $52,000 - $66,000 per year and will be commensurate with the candidate’s previous experience and credentials. The Chef Ann Foundation is a great place to work and provides its staff with a competitive benefits package, including health insurance reimbursement, professional development, a generous paid time off program, and a 403(b) retirement plan. We are a fully-remote organization whose headquarters are located in Boulder, CO, with team members spread across the US. This position is remote but candidates must work and reside in California.
