This position supports the greater Payer Business Development/Business Strategy Team in identifying RFX opportunities, assessing each opportunity for bid/no bid decision, managing the response, tracking compliance, and working with other proposal team members on response library content.
The Sr. Proposal Writer produces professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organization's value proposition. While taking primary lead on drafting content and/or modifying library content for various proposal efforts, they will also work collaboratively across a group of subject matter experts spanning all levels of the organization. As a member of a highly collaborative Proposals team, they will fill in as necessary on other efforts or assist other team members as necessary on responses they may not be directly managing. This is a role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to demanding deadlines. Tasks on any one proposal may be divided among the group.

Essential Job Duties
- Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying RFX opportunities (RFI, RFP, RFR, RFO, etc.); attending strategy meetings.
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors.
- Develops proposals by writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, narrative, and organization credentials.
- Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding; coordinating and managing proposal production as needed.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Supports leadership with providing solutions for RFX responses by working with SMEs, consultants, solutions development, product development, proposal developers, and others. This support includes facilitating meetings, documenting results, and working with Director of Business Planning to incorporate the solutions into the response.
- Proactively works with SMEs and department leaders to assist the Library Content Specialist in updating stored content for proposals and presentation decks.
- Maintains reports and other documentation of proposal writing activities.
- Performs project and general department administration including coordinating web meetings, maintaining department files and archives, preparing content for other teams, or other similar duties
- Acts as proposals team touch-point for the wider company when Proposal Manager is unavailable
- Performs other qualified duties as assigned

Travel Requirements
- Travel up to 10%, including overnight travel
Required Education, Experience, Certifications and Skills
- Bachelors' Degree Required
- Bachelors' Degree in English, Journalism, or similar writing focused degree preferred
- 5+ years of related experience
- Background with SaaS or other software products and solutions.
- Background in Medicaid/Medicare, Home Health Care, or other health-related fields a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply learning in a business environment
- Ability to synthesize and present information in a clear and concise manner
- Project management, business analysis
- Microsoft office expertise in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Previous experience with RFX software solutions, experience with RFPio software preferred
- Proposal creation skills: outline/template creation, light graphic design, document layout, ability to synthesize technical documentation and process it into proposal copy
- Ability to work toward and manage multiple deadlines
- Desire to contribute to process improvement
- Ability to work in “gray areas” toward a solution
