Job Summary:

The System Integration and Test (SI&T) directorate is responsible for integration, test, and validation activities for RMD programs. SI&T employees provide the expertise to ensure customer success through the development and execution of innovative and comprehensive systems engineering strategies, processes, tools, and techniques. Our elite teams in Huntsville, AL, and Woburn, MA, are responsible for integration, test, and validation for multiple RMD programs. Our engineers collaborate across disciplines from initial concepts to product delivery, integrate complex technology, resolve issues, evaluate system performance, demonstrate, and sell off state-of-the-art products for areas including radars, command and control platforms, missile systems, and cyber defense.

The System Integration, Test and Evaluation Department (SITE) within the SI&T Directorate is seeking a Senior Radar Systems Engineer to serve as the X-band Radar (XBR) Sensor lead for Ground Test. The individual will serve as the primary interface with the customer and the program on the Sensor and will perform Radar functional and performance analysis of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • The individual will perform BMDS performance analysis utilizing large-scale complex BMDS Modeling and Simulation tools and utilize the results in support of MDA Ground Test and Flight Test events.
  • The individual will lead and coordinate analysis activities and products with group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks.
  • The individual will document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to internal stakeholders and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives.
  • The individual may lead analysis teams and will serve as a mentor to less experienced team members.
  • The individual will support various engineering activities that include test and systems validation, modeling and simulation, requirements analysis, data analysis, flight test analysis and overall systems integration for strategic and tactical radars used as critical components in air and missile defense and situational awareness

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree (Masters) with minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience includes Systems Engineering and/or System Integration, Verification and Validation experience for Department of Defense systems.
  • Direct experience leading Flight Test and Ground Testing of Sensor capabilities and performance for the Missile Defense Agency Ballistic Missile Defense System.
  • Experience communicating directly with IPT, Chief Engineer, project leaders, hardware, software, and algorithm development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customers on a regular basis.
  • Organizing and participating in key processes including peer reviews, gate reviews, and test readiness reviews.
  • Experience leading and assisting in the development of verification strategies for advanced radar capabilities and software builds, including building and executing simulated scenarios to gauge sensor performance metrics.
  • Experience guiding and participating in the construction of analysis tools and processes for handling large data sets and resolving technical questions.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, or an ability to relate complex behavior and observed phenomenon back to first principles and develop conclusions.
  • Experience in radar systems test environments, and in development of test scripts and procedures, experience with automation is desirable.
  • Experience supporting key processes including peer reviews, gate reviews, and test readiness reviews by assembling artifacts, briefing packages, and technical reports.
  • Strong MATLAB knowledge and experience MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience with basic scripting and/or software development (MATLAB preferred, Java/C++/C# also acceptable).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to travel to support of Flight and Ground Test Missions.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience specifically including test, integration, or verification and validation of X-Band family of radars (GBRP, AN/TPY-2, XBR), Early Warning Radars or other Missile Defense System (MDS) sensors.
  • Experience as technical lead of a systems engineering activity.
  • Experience as a Mission Lead, Lead Systems Engineer, or Technical SME on previous programs.
  • Strong background in statistics and statistical analysis processes.
  • Working level experience with requirements traceability, requirements management, or documentation of IV&V products within DOORS.
  • Experience with requirements test development, test analysis, derivations, verification, and test validation.
  • Experience in both Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
  • Proven Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals.
  • Experience leading teams and IPT’s, using tools and metrics in managing activities, and interfacing with senior program and functional management.
  • Ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles.
