Along with our partners, we are seeking to expand our regional and national thought leadership in the workforce development space by adding a Senior Researcher with demonstrated experience in studying economic development, regional competitiveness, and human capital and workforce development.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership on strategizing and designing a robust workforce development ecosystem in Tulsa
  • Work closely with the leadership teams at inTulsa and partner organizations to understand and maintain focus on their analytical needs, including identifying critical metrics and KPIs, and to deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers
  • Assist inTulsa and partner organizations in writing economic and workforce development grants
  • Build dashboards and data visualizations to monitor industry, workforce and educational pipelines in Tulsa’s knowledge economy
  • Generate collateral for external use such as white papers, reports, and presentations
  • Proactively analyze data and literature to answer key questions from stakeholders and assess what drives organizational performance for economic and workforce development initiatives, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness
  • Research national, regional, and local economic and workforce development environments, pinpointing the areas of opportunity for Tulsa
  • Communicate research findings to key stakeholders and work with inTulsa’s partnership team to develop an actionable plan to develop workforce programs
  • Craft external/internal documentation that informs client targets and partnership strategies and conversations
  • Collaborate with external partners such as think tanks, university faculty, practitioners, and consultants to write and disseminate research findings
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:

As a Senior Researcher, you will have the opportunity to be a self-starter, critical-thinker and enjoy taking complicated problems and distilling them into simple and actionable frameworks as you work in close partnership with our partners within the George Kaiser Family Foundation ecosystem across organizational boundaries to analyze complex data sets, identify trends and opportunities for growth, develop best practice reports, and build relationships that drive innovative economic and workforce development practices in Tulsa while using your experience in developing research hypotheses, synthesizing both academic and practitioner research, utilizing relevant data sources, analyzing the data, and writing compelling reports. The Senior Researcher will report to the Director of Research and Analytics at InTulsa.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, urban studies, political science, economics, statistics or in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Experience in research methods using tools such as STATA, R, SPSS, and SAS
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and publishing research findings
  • Strong database management skills with experience in Excel or similar tools
  • Prior experience with database management, data analysis and modeling

Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven analytics skills, including data mining, evaluation, and analysis
  • Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Technical writing experience in relevant areas, including reports and presentations
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines effectively
  • Willing to continuously acquire new skills and knowledge and share with partners and colleagues
  • Familiarity with the Tulsa area.
  • Must be able to travel to attend in-person meetings and work collaboratively with other team members.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs., for lifting supplies and materials, as needed
  • Position continually requires the ability to talk and hear both in person and over the phone, visual acuity; ability to operate equipment, read, and use a keyboard
  • Position frequently requires the ability to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time
  • Position requires the ability to travel occasionally but not regularly

Hours & Location:

  • This position is not remote
  • Reliable internet access and dedicated workspace in home
  • Schedule to be determined upon starting
  • Work schedule maybe adjusted with approval by your Supervisor
