Position Summary

MAG has a requirement for a Software Engineer II to support the Product Manager Wideband Enterprise Satellite Systems (PdM WESS) Product Officer Wideband Control (PO WC) for the Wideband Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Trending and Anomaly Resolution Subsystem (WSTARS) subsystem. Candidate will be responsible for providing recommendations and solutions based on proven expertise.

This position is based out of Ft. Belvoir, VA, but has a remote/hybrid option.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Support services including review and oversight of the design, development, integration, installation and sustainment of the WSTARS subsystem to include validation and translation of user requirements into meaningful and clear hardware, software, and communications requirements, operating systems and protocols, database structure and management, and ultimately, technical implementation solutions.
  • Participate in periodic reviews with subsystem developers to ensure best business practices, including software Configuration Management (CM), software testing, timely root cause analysis and resolution of software problem reports and other engineering activities required are implemented.
  • Employ the engineering and scientific disciplines to perform technical analysis or selection of hardware and computer software; conduct database engineering, design, development, integration and management; produce detailed analysis of the restructuring, consolidation and management of the WSTARS database.
  • Provide support for the resolution of database issues and help resolve end-user or application issues.
  • Ensure that software or other delivery products are developed and maintained within a structured process of formal tasking, peer review, testing, configuration, validation, documentation, delivery, and installation.
  • Analyze Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) on system level integration issues, risks and risk mitigation plans, and software specifications and requirements, if applicable to the proposed implementation, including the analysis of software modules or Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs).
  • Perform those software engineering efforts required to technically support software testing and implementation.
  • May travel up to 30%.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth experience in the software life cycle development processes and standards in both DoD and commercial environments, especially the practices prescribed by CMMI.
  • Demonstrated software development experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies
  • Deep knowledge of web programming, distributed systems, performance testing
  • Familiarity with products running on either Windows server or Linux.
The minimum years of related experience required: 10

Education

The minimum level of education required is: Bachelor's Degree in related field.

Desired Requirements
  • The desired skills, knowledge, and education include knowledge of Cloud Foundry, Keycloak, Github, Credhub, Grafana, Bosh, JAVA, C++, Apache HTTP server, Tom Cat application server, and open source software in general.
  • Advanced degree (Master's etc.)

Other Qualifications
  • Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizen
