Job Summary

This company is looking for a motivated, confident, and highly organized professional to join our Finance team as a Senior SOX Analyst. The ideal candidate will be the first line resource for the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) program. Assists the SOX Director in coordinating SOX related activities between the Company, outside SOX advisors and external auditors. Assist with executing the Company’s SOX program and partner with functions across the company to ensure a strong environment for internal controls over financial reporting (“ICFR”). Assist in updating and maintaining company-wide control standards, perform SOX/audit projects, and assist in providing control-related training to process owners. This position reports to the SOX Director.

Responsibilities:

• Support the SOX Director with design , documentation and testing of the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with COSO standards and appropriate coverage of the SOX Program
• Communicate required changes to process owners including non-financial individuals, as needed, and assist with ongoing training activities including providing training to the internal finance and accounting organization in areas of controls, policies and procedures and SOX compliance
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with the management teams of all major functional areas as well as external auditor, ensuring a deep understanding of key risks and processes of the organization
• Coordinate with each process and control owners and external auditors and advisory partners on various matters including planning activities, walkthrough participation, evidence requests, information sharing, and status updates
• Work with process owners to provide sufficient support to evidence control performance, and coordinate with external auditors and advisors on provided by client (PBC) document requests
• Assist with the collection and review of third-party SSAE 18 (SOC) reports
• Assist the SOX Director in researching and documenting SOX issues and tracking remediation to conclusion. Review findings from internal and external audits and facilitate the remediation plans
• Assist the SOX Director in performing assessments of the SOX impact of new initiatives, including system implementations/updates, new accounting standards and various special projects

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of current accounting (GAAP) and auditing (GAAS) principles
• Strong understanding of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the 2013 COSO framework and SEC guidance for management's assessment of internal controls over financial reporting
• High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with minimum supervision as well as supervise work of other team members
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven, dynamic environment
• Understanding of common SaaS applications supporting financial business processes (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce)
• Professional certification such as CPA, CIA or similar preferred
• Financial Services industry experience preferred
• Advance knowledge of Visio preferred

Education & Experience:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems, Business, or other relevant degree
• 3-5+ years relevant work experience in SOX compliance, internal or external audit
• Experience with internal controls including process control design, preparation of flowcharts & control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification and reporting of control "gaps" required
• Recent Big 4 (assurance or advisory) or a national public accounting firm experience as a project lead or senior associate role
