(positon can be Hybrid or Fully Remote after training)

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The work includes functional responsibility of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all contract types of government contracts.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• • Handle full-cycle payroll
  • Set-up new hires in Navision
  • Assist Program Managers (PM's) with timesheet collection and send out timesheet reminders to employees
  • Calculate Paid Time Off (PTO) balances, upload to Navision and send reports to PM's
  • Process final paychecks in accordance with state laws
  • Submit Health and Welfare (H&W) to GSA and 401(k) contributions to Mass Mutual
  • Set-Up Contract Folders and files
  • Assist with project set-ups
  • Assist with Accounts Payable
  • Process invoices in Navision
  • Process vendor checks and obtain signatures
  • Enter invoices into the Wide Area Workflow (WAWF)
  • Upload invoices into various customer portals
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews
  • Complete other duties as assigned

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); sound understanding of FAR/federal government cost principles
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with major accounting software packages, Microsoft Dynamics Navision ERP preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable payroll laws, codes and standards; experience with multistate payroll, payroll taxes and garnishments
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience with external payroll processing software, Paylocity experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills required
  • 5+ years in progressively responsible accounting/finance experience with government contractors required
  • CPA preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized in work
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from the manager to accomplish objectives
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results
