Position Purpose

The Senior Storekeeper oversees, monitors, and provides lead level experience in the receipt, storage, and issuance of supplies, materials, equipment, tools, parts, and merchandise for the City and its departments. Participates in policy and procedural development.

For the Dallas Police Quartermaster, this includes law enforcement uniforms, badges, insignia, duty, ballistic and protective gear, and weapons.

Essential Functions

1 Receives, organizes, stores, and delivers materials and supplies ordered through various sources and for various departments; ensures the daily operation and maintenance of supply or store room, warehouse, or storage yard.

2 Reviews, evaluates, and checks all submitted purchase orders and master agreements; maintains effective relationships with departments to ensure the swift and effective purchasing and delivery of required materials and equipment; meets deadlines and manages work assignments.

3 Delivers and picks up supplies, materials and reports from various locations to expedite the procurement and disbursement of essential items; ensures all appropriate documentation is complete for the transfer of equipment and the filling of orders and requests.

4 Maintains and checks inventory to ensure that all equipment is in working order; conducts daily inspections to ensure services and warehouse operations are in compliance with all regulations; attends meetings and training classes to remain up to date on all procedures, environmental policies, and safety procedures.

5 Operates various equipment to move or transport supplies and materials to other yards, vendors, workstations, or supply rooms.

6 Stocks and stores supplies, materials and equipment in designated areas for efficient retrieval and maintains storage spaces and warehouse areas; inventories materials and supplies to ensure proper stock levels and quantities are maintained.

7 Plans, schedules, and coordinates storekeeper activities to ensure all work is done in an accurate and effective manner.

8 Prepares parts for return to manufacturer, receives salvaged or repaired parts into stock, affixes identification labels to parts, performs physical inventory, and processes all discrepancies.

9 Enters all inventory and supply data into inventory tracking system; keeps accurate records on all purchases, deliveries, and general fixed asset inventory; processes invoices for payment, ensures receipt of payment, and delivers confirmations as needed.

10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

For Dallas Police Quartermaster: Coordinates purchase, issuance and security of badges for all Academy Recruits, Police Officers, Court and Detention Security Officers, and Parking Enforcement Officers.

12 For Dallas Police Quartermaster: Secure Vaults and Safes and account for all High Risk Inventory (i.e., Weapons, Tasers, Ballistic Vests, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:


  • High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
  • Three (3) years of experience in storekeeping, warehousing, automotive parts sales, or catalog/direct sales which involved shipping, receiving and/or inventory responsibilities.
LICENSE(S) and/or CERTIFICATION(S):
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Complete City’s Defensive Driving for certification to drive City Vehicles.
OTHER REQUIREMENT(S):
  • No felony or class A misdemeanor convictions.
  • No class B misdemeanor convictions in the last ten (10) years.
  • No family violence convictions.
  • Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any felony, class A or class B misdemeanor.
  • Must pass an intensive background check including polygraph and drug screen
  • Must be available to work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 75 pounds.
PREFERENCE(S):
  • Experience with utilizing computerized inventory systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts.
  • Knowledge of a fleet base inventory system.
  • Knowledge of general warehousing.
  • Knowledge of performing cycle counts on inventory.
  • Knowledge of issuing, stocking, ordering, and receiving parts/supplies.
  • Knowledge of procurement basics and legal requirements.
  • Ability to perform as a backup Supervisor.
  • Ability to train, direct and schedule work assignments to subordinates.
  • Ability to resolve problems..

Supplemental Information

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.

For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed. A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.
