Structural Engineering Associates (SEA), Kansas City’s oldest continually operating structural engineering firm is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer for our downtown Kansas City office. Founded in 1909, SEA has a long history in Kansas City, and our reputation for excellence has led to our involvement in some of the most notable building projects in the area.
Summary of Position: As the Senior Structural Design Engineer, you will lead our structural design team on projects of varying size and type. Projects can include hospitals, government facilities, parking garages, educational facilities, office buildings, industrial structures, repair/renovation design, and pre-cast concrete design.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee project management, structural design, and development of drawings and specifications for projects with a wide range of framing systems, size, and project scheduling
- Manage client outreach, quality control, scheduling, overall design team financial and technical performance
- Mentor younger engineers.
Requirements:
- Must have PE/SE license and the ability to obtain licenses in other states as needed
- Candidate must have a minimum of fifteen years of experience performing structural design and developing details for drawings
- Candidate must have experience in structural design in multiple structural framing systems, document preparation, and client outreach
- Individual should be self-motivated, able to work independently, communicate well, develop clients and work on and lead multiple projects at the same time
- Working knowledge of Risa 3D, Adapt or other structural analysis programs, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Word and Excel is an advantage.
- Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, clients, vendors, and contractors
- Travel as required by project assignments (limited travel with overnight stays)
- Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with existing clients and develop new clients.
- Responsible for identifying and developing market sectors.
- Possess proven understanding and capability for effective financial management and profitability
