We are seeking an experiened Sr. Visual Designer for our San Diego location!
SUMMARY
The Senior Visual Designer is responsible for translating the Road Runner Sports voice and personality into visual design. This individual will work in various media including web, email, social media, and print while focusing on laying out provided assets, lifestyle imagery, and typography in an organized, digestible way that reflects the values and goals of Road Runner Sports. Time management and file organization are essential for the Senior Visual Designer to deliver quality assets representing the company in a cohesive way that inspires viewers and instills trust.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate the Road Runner Sports brand guidelines into visual design
- Support Design Process using your deep knowledge of design development, you will help the Creative Team become more efficient and productive by continuously evaluating and improving creative processes.
- Take a proactive role in creating, implementing, and refining marketing materials.
- Manage processes and mentor artists, communicating clear direction on vision, providing actionable feedback and direction of deliverables, and setting appropriate expectations on tasks and schedules
- Provide mood boards, concept art, storyboards, and style guides to communicate visual direction, references and guidelines
- Partner with the Art Director and Communications Director to conceptualize new designs including web assets, social media content, emails, and print collateral.
- Have close involvement in marketing strategy for yearly campaigns
- Work closely with Cross-Functional Partners (Brand Marketing, Retail Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Product Marketing, etc.) to provide creative solutions and execute designs in a timely manner
- Support Road Runner Sports culture, quality standards and deliverables
- Proficient in creating, polishing and formulating assets that are needed and optimized for development included organizing, populating assets/photos, font libraries, etc.
- Create and maintain system organization for electronic files and images through on-line database and archiving to removable media.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior design position for in-house brands or agency
- Expert ability in Creative Cloud programs and Microsoft Office applications
- Self-motivated, resourceful, hardworking with a positive attitude. Well organized, detail- and solutions-oriented
- Strong understanding of design principles and best practices across digital and print
- Ability to adapt to the fast-changing needs and developments
- Multi-tasking of many projects at various stages.
- Time management: being able to prioritize job(s) and meeting deadlines.
- Follow through: being able to take a job from creative brief hand-off to launch and/or print.
- Strong understanding of Design Principles, (typography, color, layout, etc.)
- Proficiency in utilizing current UX/UI design concepts and mobile-first web design
- Knowledge of video editing and HTML/CSS fundamentals is a plus
- Expert knowledge of ASANA, Slack, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft 365
- Extreme attention to detail and quality
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills is a plus including the ability to communicate design rationale
- Knowledge of variable printing or dynamic digital printing is a plus
