POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Service Director is responsible for the oversight and management of the Service division. This role will be accountable for the financial performance of the division, driving strategic goals and initiatives, providing leadership and day-to-day support to the Service team and representing the company in the most professional manner with both internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight and leadership to all service operations, ensuring work is completed in accordance to company standards by meeting safety, quality and profitability targets.
  • Embody the Dave Jones, Inc. Vision, Mission and Core Values and ensure these are practiced and embraced by all team members.
  • Responsible for financial performance of the division, meeting target operating metrics and communicating projections.
  • Directly manage the Service Manager, Project Managers and Service Admin Specialist, providing ongoing guidance, support and feedback on job duties and expectations.
  • Establish the annual sales and expense budgets and forecast for the Service division.
  • Execute the budgets, work to achieve growth goals, gross margin goals and contribution margin goals.
  • Provide strategic direction to the Service division, including communication of organization goals and specific division goals to support the overall strategy.
  • Confer with the President and Management Team to review achievements and areas of concern. Work to determine appropriate path of action to reach department objectives. Act to resolve any performance issues.
  • Drive operational discipline throughout the Service division. Understand key drivers of the business, hold the team accountable to performance and drive action on improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate with customers as needed to discuss opportunities and resolve issues.
  • Work with a high degree of integrity and honesty and promote a positive image that aligns with Dave Jones’ core values and culture.
  • Collaborate with Service Manager regarding call volume and technician capacity. Make decisions on hiring needs based on workload and forecasts.
  • Actively support continuous improvement, identify opportunities to reduce costs, drive efficiencies and improve overall division performance. Standardize and streamline core processes within the Service division.
  • Promote communication and collaboration between demand service and installation teams to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
  • Complete annual performance reviews on all direct reports, review completed performance reviews for Service employees and provide suggested wage adjustments as needed.
  • Manage vehicle allocations among the Service team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with manufacturers and suppliers. Assist the team in managing pricing and availability while protecting profitability for the division.
  • Establish professional development plans and opportunities for office and field staff within the Service division.
  • Support and grow the Dave Jones, Inc. Safety Culture, program and policies. Actively involved in policy development, procedural implementation and compliance with policies and procedures developed by the Safety Director.
  • Work with QA Manager on any product changes or substitutions.
  • Provide expertise and guidance as it relates to product and installation quality. Ensure that the team is updated on quality issues and provided with feedback and training as needed. Serve as a member of the Dave Jones, Inc. Quality Assurance Committee.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in Business Management or Construction related field; or Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management preferred but not required if minimum experience levels are met.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading a service business or in a fast paced leadership position.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License
