As a Set Up Supervisor you will:

Supervises Setup staff to conduct Banquet set-up and tear down activities for meetings, banquets and food and beverage functions in the hotel and conference center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Communicates with clients for special needs and requests.
  • Ensures guest satisfaction scrutinizing room sets to standards.
  • Sets rooms to standards.
  • Completes work orders as needed for equipment.
  • Keeps equipment and store room in excellent order.
  • Refreshes setup cart for next shift.
  • During group breaks must refresh water set ups and remove dirty glassware, etc. from meeting tables.
  • During lunch must refresh rooms by replacing all dirty glassware, empty trash, straighten chairs, and maintain an overall clean room.
  • Advise manager when in need of inventory such as batteries, paper, pens, etc.
  • Works closely with Banquet Manager and Banquet Captains to ensure coverage, proper sets, and coaching of staff
  • Reviews work schedules to make sure coverage is at service levels.
  • Assists with diagram preparation; used for staff direction and for client review.
  • Help maintain proper inventory levels and cleanliness of all inventories.
  • Helps trouble shoot potential downfalls with shortage of inventory, double booking of rooms, and possible staffing shortages.
  • Work schedule flexibility a must as business demands may warrant variances in work times.
  • Cleans all meeting rooms consistently in the following areas:
  • Dusts all woodwork.
  • Polishes glass and mirrors.
  • Polishes railings.
  • Dusts light fixtures and vents.
  • Vacuums and spot clean carpet.
  • Cleans trash cans and trash can compartments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES –

Provides supervision to all Banquet team; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems; maintain a continuous open door policy to answer team member questions needing immediate attention.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to communicate clearly with guests, customers, supervisors and fellow employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be able to calculate amounts and apply basic addition, subtraction and multiplication.

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to analyze routine data to make appropriate judgments regarding banquets processes. Ability to follow a diagram for setting a room.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Practice written safety standards and rules at all times. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 pounds. Requires ability to reach, grasp and feel. Frequently requires standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and reaching.

HOURS

Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the Hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime.
