Job description
Summary of Position:
Operates various sewing machines to join parts of fabricated articles or garments.
Essential Functions:
- Complete products working with a variety of materials
- Draw threads through needles and adjust machine functions to meet the requirements of project
- Position materials under needle
- Guides parts of product to be joined under the foot of the sewing machines and operates the machine using a foot pedal
- Operator is responsible for maintaining the machine and following quality specifications for the product
- Observes stitching to detect defects and notifies supervisor of any machine malfunctions
- Ensure that excess material or threads are cut away from the finished product
- Examine finished garments for compliance

Work environment:
- Warehouse environment – exposure to changes in temperature
- Subject to noise – when working near machinery and/or vehicles
- Subject to hazards – including proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles
Physical Demands:
- Sitting – 75% daily (depending on machine designation)
- Standing or walking – 25% daily (depending on machine designation)
- Visual acuity (20/40 – correctable by glasses/contacts)
- Repetitive motions
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to grasp and perform fine manipulations with hands.
- Ability to reach and squat.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous industrial sewing machine operation

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
