OVERVIEW:
Under the supervision of the County Coordinators or Corps Officers, the Director will be responsible for assisting officers in budgeting, planning and the full implementation of the program. The Director is also responsible for supervision
DUTIES
  • Responsible for overall functioning of the shelter, under direction of the Salvation Army Corps Officers or County Coordinators
  • Establish operational protocols and safety procedures of the shelter sites
  • Overall supervisor of all shelter staff
  • Supervise and assist in monitoring budget, reporting, grant preparation and grant reporting for Shelter focused grants. Provide reports, statistics and written documentation as required by funding sources, grants and government agencies.
  • Supervise daily law enforcement notification of shelter attendance
  • Any other duties relating to your job as requested by the Officers.
  • Lead periodic Staff meetings
  • Coordinate Staff training in First Aid, CPR, AED, Mental Health, Conflict Management, Recovery Programs and At-Risk Populations
  • Provide and support employee disciplinary measures with other supervisors Officers
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Social Services Field with a professional certification such as MFT, LCSW, or similar strongly preferred.
  • At least one year experience with a disadvantaged population.
  • Professional licensure a plus in HMIS Intake
  • Must have a minimum of two years staff supervision experience.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple duties.
  • Able to read and write English. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task simultaneous projects.
  • Be cordial, friendly and professional in carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Possess maturity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
  • Interact professionally in all contact with the staff, public, Salvation Army Officers and staff.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Be able to pick up, lift and maneuver 20 lbs. regularly
