Job description
The Shift Supervising Nurse is responsible for coordinating and supervising the facility during all tours of duty, abiding by departmental policies and procedures, and interpreting them to personnel, visitors/families, and residents. This position serves as liaison between each tour of duty and Nursing administration.
Proof of COVID 19 vaccine required.
Criminal background check is required.
- Staff the facility during tour of duty and ensure staffing allocations meet state regulations
- Provide residents with general safety and freedom from abuse.
- Responsible for emergency fire response (calling 911, notifying the Emergency Team, determining need for evacuation, etc.).
- Oversee residents' direct care and IV therapy.
- Assess and determine need to notify physician of residents' changes and/or problems.
- Assess and determine need for follow up with hospital.
- Handle and resolve resident conflicts.
- Coordinate climate control of facility.
- Assist with resolving staff conflicts.
- Oversee direct documentation.
- Follow up on residents' care.
- Notify other Supervisors, Charge Nurses, Director of Nursing, and Administrator of any issues or concerns.
- Manage residents' families concerns and complaints, etc.
- Maintain adequate supplies.
- Handle and review payroll.
- Provide staff counseling and evaluation.
- Provide notification of residents' transport to hospital.
- Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Pennsylvania Registered Nurse License.
- Completion of nursing program through an accredited certified Nursing School (diploma required).
- Current Certification in CPR.
- At least three years of job-related experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Three years of experience in Long Term Care.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of county management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- General understanding of fiscal planning
- General understanding of Human Resource guidelines (FMLA, FLSA, employment guidelines, etc.).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic skill to use a personal computer and various software packages.
- Customer service experience and skills.
- Ability to work independently and proceed with objectives.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- Working knowledge of Pennsylvania's state nursing regulations.
