Overview:
A role in Shipping/Receiving performs a variety of moderately complex shipping and receiving tasks. Compares identifying information on incoming or outgoing shipments with purchase orders, invoices, or other documents and ensures shipping and receiving processes are consistent and conducted in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
Receive and handle all incoming materials and supplies from Suppliers- Verify, check, document, distributes and follows up on orders received and delivered
- Assign receiving tickets to every incoming order to acknowledge receipts and to track order through to final destination
- Enter shipping data into the computer terminal
- Investigate problems and follows up with requisitioner
- Verify part number on materials received against documents
- Prepare bill of lading
- Handle routine contacts with express and freight agents
- Use terminal to make corrections and inquire about shipments and orders
- Maintain inventory, general stock and company supplies
- Operate various equipment such as computer terminals, printers, and lift trucks
- Inspect shipments for damages or defects
- Deliver items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items
- Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices
- Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements and collaborate in team meetings and activities
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- 2+ years of related experience in the fundamentals of shipping/receiving
- 2+ years of experience with freight carrier’s data base e. FedEx, UPS required
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- SAP experience in the fundamentals of shipping/receiving
Preferred:
- 5+ years of related experience in the fundamentals of shipping/receiving
- 5+ years of experience with freight carrier’s data base
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in comprehending written and verbal instructions
- Computer skills in a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface; ability to use Enterprise-wide systems
- Analytical skills in reviewing and comparing data; identifying inconsistencies; determining priorities
- Forklift experience/certified
- Ability to quickly change priorities with flexibility and adaptability through strong time management
