Job Summary:

HHS Construction, LLC. is searching for an experienced Mechanic to support our Ontario location!

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Diagnoses and repairs various construction equipment and on-highway utility trucks and trailers using basic and specialty test equipment either mechanical or electronic
  • Troubleshoots and replaces various components such as valves, hoses, fittings, tanks, pumps etc. in hydraulic systems
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex wiring for systems such as the utility booms, chassis, and engine wiring. Must be able to read and understand wiring schematics
  • Performs basic fabrication and welding using MIG, ARC, OXY Acetylene, Torch, grinders, and other fabricating tools
  • Performs preventative maintenance and BIT / DOT inspections including wet and dry PM services and repairs that need to be addressed during BIT inspection findings
  • Raises trucks, trailers or other equipment using hydraulic or air assisted jacks or hoists in a safe practice
  • Replaces worn or defective brake components including tire replacement
  • Diagnoses and repairs air conditioning systems. (HHS provides A/C machine and test equipment)
  • Completes and submits all paperwork in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent diploma/GED and minimum 5 years’ experience in a Mechanic role or in fields relating to medium/heavy duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair or similar
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English, Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently, have good critical thinking / problem solving skills, follow directions, and be self-motivating
  • Ability to represent the company in a professional manner and perform their duties in an honest, ethical, and diligent manor
  • Must have and maintain good driving practices
  • Must be available / willing to work overtime as needed. Hours to be flexible and may include 1 weekend workday, to be discussed further

Technical

  • Knowledge and experience with Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel engines
  • Must have basic computer skills and be organized
  • Must furnish own tools and work boots. (Specialized tools such as computer scanners provided by HHS)

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Associates or Trade school degree in the field of automotive or diesel repair
  • Basic knowledge of automotive / diesel systems and 1-year minimum experience in a shop environment
  • Knowledge and experience with hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, grinders etc.
  • ASE certifications / Air Conditioning 609 certification
  • Welding certifications
  • Qualified to perform BIT / DOT inspections
  • Brake Certifications for air systems
  • Conditions may vary. Most work will be done in Ontario but there can also be times where an emergency breakdown requires a field repair we must respond to- as is, where is. HHS provides all safety equipment such as eye, ear, face, safety vests and related protection.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure

  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems on trailers and trucks such as lights, etc.
  • Ability to furnish own personal hand tools. More specialized equipment will be provided by the company
  • Ability to operate floor jacks, change tires, break down tires off steel rim assemblies and repair flat tires
  • Perform lube, oil, and filter changes on a variety of different equipment
  • Perform safety inspections on equipment
  • Flexible hours

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Experience:

  • Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Required)
