Job description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Site Coordinator will assist the Site Director with the development of programs and strategies to ensure that our staff are equipped to provide engaging and innovative learning opportunities for our youth. This position will help to improve the academic performance of Club members. They will work directly with staff to ensure that kids at each of our locations are able to focus on the areas of academics, arts, and leadership, specifically through our Power Hour, Project Learn, and reading skills enhancement programs. Site Coordinators at school-based locations will coordinate with teachers and administrators to track students’ academic progress, areas of proficiency or deficiency, and jointly develop plans for academic improvement.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Provide program support for Youth Development Professionals (YDP’s) as needed.
- Facilitate curriculum planning, assessment and implementation procedures for site.
- Plan and create program calendar.
- Collaborate with staff to gather data and evaluate academic performance of club members including ensuring all information is current in MTS.
- Communicate with parents/teachers regarding needs/accomplishments of club members.
- Provide support and guidance for Academic program, specifically Power Hour, Project Learn, and other programs.
- Ensure Club members safety by ensuring that they are wearing masks at all times.
- Ensure Club members safety by staff wearing their mask at all times.
- Oversee that Youth development professional's are facilitating classroom ensuring that members are logged on and ready to complete their school assignments for the day.
- Ensure the service of breakfast, lunch, and snack to members in classroom.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain high standards of customer service in dealing with members, parents, volunteers, other staff members, and the general public.
- As needed, attend meetings with or communicate with parents/teachers regarding club members.
- As needed, participate in special programs or events and attend weekly staff meetings.
- Participate in all required staff meetings and trainings.
- Maintain continual communication with Site Director and other staff members regarding concerns/issues.
- KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Must be 18 years of age. (High School Diploma or GED).
- Some experience in working with children and basic knowledge of youth development.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior challenges.
- Ability to plan and implement programs/activities for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise Club members in a safe environment.
- Bilingual (Spanish speakers) preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated organization, staff and project management abilities.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:
- Prior Boys & Girls Club experience
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The job requires working, standing, bending, turning, reaching, talking, listening; works in a clean, well-lighted, heated and ventilated building.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high energy level, be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities, and effectively communicate with a variety of audiences in various settings.
