Overview:Position supports Middletown School District Programs. The Site Supervisor is responsible for developing and implementing quality programming and scheduling for assigned before and after school site. This Supervisor is responsible for the site environment, communicating with parents, students, school administration when necessary, as well as supervising and directing staff and students. The Site Supervisor must also demonstrate a commitment to our YMCA philosophy and core values – caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and supervise the school-age curriculum with age- and developmentally- appropriate activities, while observing and assessing the individual needs of the children.
  • Supervise and direct the staff and assist in their on-site orientation and training.
  • Develop the weekly schedule, a monthly calendar of events, which should be posted with all necessary licensing materials; Completing on site quality quick checks weekly.
  • Take attendance daily and keep track of student absences.
  • Assure that all activities are in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the YMCA, as well as teaching the YMCA core values.
  • Attend mandatory events such as Back to School Night, Annual Staff meeting, Y-Kids meetings and training provided; PTA meetings when necessary, Kindergarten orientations, etc. throughout the year.
  • Serve as a liaison to the school personnel, specifically the principal and his/her designee and handle communication of student-related problems, including behavior problems, documenting in timely matter, and sharing with your supervisor.
  • Know and ensure that state regulations are maintained at your site.
  • Report any suspected child abuse to the School Age Director. Document as necessary.

Site Supervisor will supervise school-age site assistants and aides assigned to their site.

Qualifications:

  • The incumbent must have a BA or BS in Education or a related field, and/or at least 3 years experience in supervision and working with school-aged children.
  • The incumbent must be mature, responsible and have experience in scheduling daily age-appropriate activities and special events.
  • The Site Supervisor must also have CPR/First Aid/Epi-pen certification or acquire within 3 months after date of hire.
