What You Will Do:
General Summary

This position will be a key member of the Sleep Diagnostic and PAP Therapy team supporting accurate and timely set up and processing of Home Sleep Studies, scoring of in-lab studies, providing patient education, Pap therapy patient set-up and post set-up trouble-shooting to drive compliance. This position will support the Sleep Operations Staff and other departments as needed.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified.

  • Verifies Integrity of HSAT equipment and troubleshoots to ensure quality testing; cleaning/sterilization of equipment
  • Responsible for daily clinical tasks that may require administrative input such as reviewing orders for completion; review existing patient record or on the patient data sheet, examine orders and protocols for study, assuring/assisting staff; ensure all daily sleep tasks are completed.
  • Set up patients on PAP devices, which includes fitting patients with proper sized masks and explaining proper usage.
  • OSA education, initial therapy, technical education during PAP therapy setup, and post set-up trouble-shooting to drive compliance.
  • Interfaces professionally and effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, fellow staff and patients.
  • Prioritizes/organizes workload to promote quality and expedient testing.
  • Documents patient information pertinent to testing to ensure comprehensive, timely and accurate recording, accounting and reporting.
  • Supports PAP therapy sales and other departments as needed.
  • Identify patient PAP therapy compliance issues; Monitor, follow-up, and provide compliance guidance and education to patients.
  • Performs additional functions as requested.


What You Need to Be Successful:


Education and Experience

  • Minimum a High School Diploma. Graduation from an accredited Polysomnography program OR significant time working in an AASM accredited Sleep Lab is preferred.
  • 1-3 years Sleep Lab experience.


Required Skills

  • Must assess clinical / physiological knowledge of cardio respiratory system.
  • Must possess knowledge of sleep apnea diagnosis, treatment and management.
  • Must have experience in PAP therapy patient set-up and trouble-shooting to drive compliance.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess capability to work with multiple inter-disciplinary departments.
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task and function independently.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of PSG, CPAP Titration, MSLT, and Oximetry.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of evidence-based guidelines on the use of CPAP, BiPAP, AutoSV, APAP, and in lab titrations and mask interface fittings.
