***Seasonal Part-Time Position***

REPORTS TO: Ski Area Manager

Primary Purpose: Teach Ski/Snowboard classes under the direction of the Recreation Director. These classes focus helping the client to improve their skiing skills for those whose ability level is from first timer to intermediate.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Teach ski/snowboard lessons that enhance the students experience by providing structure, expertise, patience, and good humor.

2. Make sure the primary focus of each lesson is the satisfaction of the student(s).

3. Assist Recreation Director.

4. Assist with ski area tasks when not instructing.

5. Must have or obtain child abuse clearances that are compliant with PA Keep Kids Safe Act.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

1. Must be able to explain and teach basic through advanced skiing skills.

2. Must attend all training sessions held.

3. Instructors work outside on the snow a good portion of the day.

4. Must enjoy coaching/working with children and able to show patience and sensitivity for their unique needs.

5. Must be mature, trustworthy, organized and safety conscious.

6. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.

7. Must possess Intermediate or better skiing/snowboarding ability.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and be able to perform physically strenuous tasks 2. Must have the ability to think and react quickly in an emergency.

3. Must be available to work at busy times, which coincide, with holidays (Christmas, Presidents' Week). 4. Position involves a great deal of interaction with the public,requiring a friendly, outgoing demeanor.

5. Must be in a company issued Logo Ski Jacket when on duty

SAFETY HAZARDS:

1. Temperatures can be extremely cold and frostbite can result without proper gloves, hats, under and outer garments, etc. Employee should always be prepared with enough weather appropriate gear that they can add or remove clothing items depending upon weather conditions.

2. Slips, trips on snow/ice.
