SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR
FIRST REVIEW FEBRUARY 3, 2023 - OPEN UNTIL FILLED
$19.32 - 23.07 PER HOUR
12 MONTHS / 28 HOURS PER WEEK POSITION, MONDAY - FRIDAY
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: WEED CAMPUS
Under direction of the Director of Public Relations and the College of the Siskiyous Foundation, the Social Media Marketing Coordinator develops, implements, and manages the social media strategy and content for College of the Siskiyous’ official social media platforms, supporting the college’s brand strategy, business and communications, and marketing goals.
- Analyzes, develops and delivers current social marketing deployment, social strategy development and integration plans to improve communication and increase community engagement and support.
- Implements and maintains COS social media content, such as Facebook and other social media.
- Identifies social media opportunities to maximize enrollment, donations, public support and visibility of COS.
- Takes photos for posting in social media for COS and COS Foundation.
- Advises Public Relations and Foundation staff on the most up-to-date social and traditional media trends. Remain current with trends in social media, making recommendations for content strategy on existing channels, and/or creation of presence on new channels
- Track, report and respond to social media metrics and engagement, troubleshooting and pivoting when necessary. Provides in-depth analysis of reports to enable data-driven decisions in marketing and social media strategies.
- Provides accurate and timely information for students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni and community members, to gain support for COS and its public initiatives.
- Researches and develops newsworthy storylines that spotlight COS’ successful programs, faculty and staff recognition and achievement, community involvement, scholarships and donors.
- Works with Public Relations staff to enhance interaction between COS website and social media.
- Assists in the development of promotional materials, such as brochures, posters, fliers and presentations.
- Understanding of digital world, user experience and social media management platforms.
- Initiate innovative ideas for digital marketing efforts. Strategize a sustainable balance of actionable, shareable, engaging, cutting-edge content per channel that builds and strengthens the college’s audiences. Create original, authentic, high quality content for current and prospective student/parent audiences.
- Monitor the college’s social media channels daily. Responds to comments and questions from social media followers with accuracy, professionalism, and timeliness.
- Create and maintain paid social media advertising campaigns.
- Work with other communicators across campus to ensure all college’s social media channels are following best practices according to Board policy, and working to grow their audiences
- Build and maintain a content calendar
Any combination equivalent to:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution with classwork in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, or a related field
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in social media, public relations, or marketing.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of best practices and trends in social and traditional media and marketing
- Use of standard computer software including Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
- Basic web editing techniques
- Understanding of social media analytics, search engine optimization, web traffic metrics, Google Analytics
- Knowledge of running digital ad campaigns on various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
- Organized and self-motivated
- Assist with overall project workflow by using a project management system
- Have the initiative to research and gather information in order to perform job duties
- Attention to detail and commitment to executing quality work
- Ability to communicate, collaborate, and manage time effectively while working calmly and professionally under deadline and/or emergency conditions
- Skills in photography, videography, and graphic design
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in the use of Social Media Platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, SnapChat, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Meta Business Suite / HootSuite
- Active professional social media participant across all major social channels
- Proven experience and success in developing social media content and creating social media strategies for an organization, business, or institution
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, analytical and project management skills
- Experience with audio recordings and/or podcasts
- Experience with online design tools (Canva)
- Thorough understanding of branding principles and tactics through multimedia and public communications
- Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends and to travel within the service area

Selection Process:
After the preliminary screening, selected candidates will be invited to the campus for an initial interview with the Search Committee. Videoconference interviews (in lieu of an in-person initial interview) will be offered. Candidates to be interviewed will be selected from applicants who most closely meet the minimum and desired qualifications. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. The Search Committee will recommend finalists to the Superintendent/President for a final interview.

Conditions of Employment:
Employees must satisfy all the pre-employment requirements prior to appointment that include, but are not limited to, tuberculosis clearance (EC 87408.6), fingerprint processing, and verification of their legal right to work in the United States.
